Artist Charles Louis Heyde first visited Vermont in 1852 searching for inspiration for his speciality - landscape painting. Apparently, he found what he was looking for in the state's spectacular scenery. Four years later he moved permanently to Burlington, Vermont, and for nearly thirty-five years painted the scenic views popular with visitors and residents of the region.
