황동규 시인의 열다섯 번째 시집 『사는 기쁨』. 1958년 《현대문학》추천으로 등단한 이후 현대문학상, 이산문학상, 대산문학상, 미당문학상 등을 수상하며 끊이지 않는 시를 향한 열정을 보여준 저자의 이번 시집은 칠십대 중반이란 나이 때문에 발휘하게 된 환하고 따뜻한 상상력과 매너리즘을 거부하는 싱싱한 언어로 써내려간 시편들로 구성되어 있다.
상승하는 정신으로 삶의 생기가 가득한 저자의 시집에서 세월이 만든 담백한 풍경 속에 생의 경이를 발견하는 기쁨을 보여주는 저자의 이야기를 들어볼 수 있다. 늙은 몸에 대해, 인생의 종점을 눈앞에 둔 처지에 대해 이야기하지만 결코 어둡지 않은, 명랑성과 낙관성을 잃지 않는 메시지를 오롯이 담아낸 ‘그리움의 끄트머리는 부교(浮橋)이니’, ‘가을 저녁 고속도로 휴게소에서’, ‘두 달 반 만의 산책’, ‘무중력을 향하여’ 등의 시편들이 수록되어 있다.
