This is the second book in the series that opened with “Guardians of Light” and continues the story of the struggle between the Guardians and the Order of Shadows. This entry demonstrates the growing storytelling skills of the young author (a recent graduate from a nearby high school), as the story is both more complex than the first book and better paced in its telling. The characters are beginning to become more fleshed out here, as we begin to learn more about them, and we learn more about the magical elements of this story’s reality. This book manages to answer some of the remaining questions raised in the first book, while setting the stage for further installments in the series. It appears that the target audience for this series is the young adult reader, and these books should satisfy the appetites of that audience, while keeping them coming back for more. I look forward to seeing where the story goes next…

This was a great traveling companion this Christmas. I enjoyed so much. Following my favorite Guardians in this new adventure that brought back all the emotions of being part of an epic quest, and adventure and action filled with riddles, magic and superpowers.
This time the Guardians and the Order race to get their hands on a very important diary that can change their future.
I loved the final surprise and all the action. I can't wait to get to the next one.
