KA Hobbs lives with her husband in Essex. When she isn’t lost in a book or creating one, she loves to cook, swim, colour and shop. Her happiest times are always when she is surrounded by family and friends or watching Cinderella which some might say she is a little obsessed with. She is a little obsessed with the Tudors and would love to go back to that period in time.

One day, while watching TV, a scene came to her, completely out of the blue. She could see the scene unfolding, could picture the characters so clearly. She couldn't get to her laptop quick enough and spent hours writing not only that scene, but lots of others too.

She will happily admit to being grumpy when she doesn’t get to write, she loves her characters and spending time listening to what they have to say.

To mend a broken heart by KA Hobbs

I was lucky enough to be one of the few to read this before everyone even new it was written, and let me tell you, you NEED to read this! Did you love Sophie and Dougs story? If you did, you'll love this! If you didn't, you'll still love this. This story speaks to your soul. It opens your eyes to negativity, but it also shows you, without the crippling pain of grief and heartache, you don't get to see the love, feel the warmth that someone can wrap you in with just a smile, a touch of a hand, or a fleeting glance.
The power of words is something that many authors are loosing. The sex scenes increase and the writing becomes second, it's not here, the story is paramount above all, and if you don't come away with a tear in your eye and the strength to smile at a stranger who looks like they're having a miserable day, then i commend you, as you are a stronger soul than me. Give this book a chance, it may be the best thing you've done in a long time. Anyway, onto to review.

Katie is a recently widowed woman. That's it, that's how she feels. She thinks her life ended the day Richard died, and without him here, there is no reason to keep on living. Her best friend Ginny comes around daily trying to get her friend to get up and get dressed and start living again, but 3 months isn't long to grieve, and Katie feels like she'll be grieving until the day she dies, and with the look of her life as it is, won't be too far away.
After 3 months of grief Katie gets the overwhelming need to volunteer at the local hospital on the children's ward. She misses Richard wholeheartedly, but her faith is returning slightly and she feels like she can help the little ones who are suffering more than she could ever imagine.

Daniel is a father. He is the most loving, devoted father any child could ask for. The only trouble is, Daniel is a father to a little girl called poppy, and poppy sadly lost her fight to leukaemia 6 months ago. She still lives in his heart, in his home through memories, and her little hand prints on the wall, and through their joint love of literature, especially Cinderella.
Daniel decided to volunteer at the hospital to help other parents, and other children who were going through the same things he had to go through. He lends an ear to the heart broken parents, shares a tear with them for the struggles ahead, and hugs the children and plays with them like they're the most important people in the world, because to Daniel, any child, be it poppy, or the little girl running down the ward with cannula's in her arms and oxygen in her nose, ARE the most precious human beings in the world. He sees everyone for what they are, he doesn't see faults, he sees attributes and helps everyone he meets. Then he meets Katie, and the light that went out in his eyes when poppy died starts to flicker, and for the first time in 6 months, life feels like it may have thrown him his own, real life princess, someone to slowly mend his broken, yet perfect heart, and turn the light back on in his eyes.

Daniel and Katie's story is beautiful. It's not perfect, and it's so sad in places that I couldn't see the words for the tears, but it's true. Life isn't always kind, we don't always get our happily ever afters, and some people get so much thrown at them that they want to throw in the towel, but keeping the faith, an angel may show themselves to you and your awful life, may turn out okay after all. This story shows heart, it's more about the words, there's intimacy, but it's kept between Daniel and Katie, their love is spiritual, deep and all consuming, and making love is just another way of them showing how much they need each other. I love that KA Hobbs didn't elaborate too much on the intimate scenes, it would have ruined this book, made the whole feel of it out of place, but she kept it true to the characters, and I'm sure they'd thank her for it.

This isn't a fairy story, this is real life, and do you know what? Real life can be wonderful if you find your Prince Charming to spend it with.

Ps. The connected series is also amazing and contains plenty of sex and I freaking love it!!!

Omg where to start with this book!! Its my favourite book by KA Hobbs so far.
This is an amazing story that captured my heart from the first pages and never let go.The writing is beautiful, the emotions and feelings KA Hobbs got spot on I felt I was sharing their grief ,their happiness with them.Infact I did because I was crying tears of sadness and happiness on numerous occasions so I recommend a box of tissues when reading!!
This is Katie and Daniels story both trying to get through life one day at a time after both suffering tragedies that broke each of them. They meet when Katie volunteers at the same hospital that Daniel is also at,they recognise the pain in each other and quickly they form a friendship coming to rely on each other as they face each new day. They find they heal each other, comfort each other become each others light on the darkest of days. When Katie realises that Daniel has feelings for her does she feel the same? Can she ever think of him as anything than more just a good friend? Can they both move on from the sorrow that has crippled them and make new memories together?
I loved this book!!Daniel …what a man he is,gentle, kind, caring loving ,supportive he was always there to comfort her through her darkest saddest times. No amount of words can express how wonderful a character he is.Katie I loved her, also a kind caring woman wanting to be strong for Daniel whenever he needed her ,the strength of emotion they showed toward each other was amazing and beautiful to read.I also loved the characters of Ginny and Ryan they had a funny banter between them that gave you plenty of light hearted laugh out loud moments. The story is beautiful start to finish the characters you’ll connect with, fall in love with, laugh with and cry with as I did. This book, the characters will stay with me for a long time to come.Read this amazing, heartlifting book today you’ll be so glad you did!But don’t forget the tissues!!

The first word that comes to mind when I think of Daniel is SIGH.... Not a sigh of frustration or boredom but a breathy OMG-where-has-he-been-all-my-life kind of sigh! Daniel is quite simply perfection... He isn't just a book bf, he is so much more than that, he represents the strength we all have inside of us, the one that we don't even realise exists until we need to call upon it for whatever reason. I honestly can't put into words how Daniel makes me feel over than that huge sigh!!!

Daniel and Katie haven't had it easy by no stretch of the imagination and their story will have you in pieces more times than I can count, but what you'll soon realise is that one of their happy moments is worth all of the heartbreaking ones! They aren't like most fictional couples and they don't have the start that most couples do, their story is one of healing, of finding the light in the darkness, of finding that warmth that can only come from feeling truly loved. It's haunting, it's heart stopping and it's utterly breathtaking.

To Mend a Broken Heart really does have everything... Two solid and well developed main characters that'll capture your heart in seconds, incredible secondary characters that'll have you laughing more than you think possible and a magical storyline that'll make you believe that everything really does happen for a reason.

What you need to remember while reading To Mend a Broken Heart is that grief is subjective and you'll never know exactly how someone else's grief and guilt affects them, if you keep that in mind then you'll be able to fully appreciate the amazing story of Katie and Daniel. Thank you KA Hobbs for sharing these two and their beautiful story with the world, Daniel and Katie will forever have a piece of my heart. <3

Emotions will run high. You’ll have BIG FAT TEARS!! You will need BOXES of tissues!!

Worth more than 5 stars

I really think KA Hobbs has out done herself this time. To Mend a Broken Heart is a beautiful and outstanding story that is phenomenally written. It’s a story about loving and losing, moving forward, finding love again and being happy.

Katie and Daniel have both gone through loss. They meet when Katie decides she needs to start to move forward so she volunteers at a children’s hospital. Even though there losses are different and happened at different times, they lean on each other. Their friendship starts to grow feelings become stronger. Katie struggles with moving on. She at a cross roads where she must figure out that just because she moves on doesn’t mean she has to forget.

KA Hobbs is a fantastic story teller you really need to check her out she will not disappoint.

I fell in love with Daniel right from the start. He's everything we want in a man and more. That's why he's the perfect book boyfriend. The way he treats Katie like a princess makes me fall in love over and over agin. The pain they both went through was written so well I felt like I went through it with them. I could read To mend a broken heart time and time again with out getting sick or bored. It's a book that pulls you in and won't let you go. One quote in the book really stood out to me,

"No ones pain is any greater or less. Everyone has their own problems, their own struggles. They may not be the same as your own, but they are just as valid, just as painful."

I adore this book I really do!

To Mend a Broken Heart

5 ‘Broken Hearted’ Stars

I want to first off tell you how I came about reviewing this book. KA Hobbs told us of a surprise release and of course I jumped at the chance to read and review. Little did I know this book would be my undoing. This has to be one of my favourite reads of this year so far!

I know right now that I will mention this book for years to come to my bookish friends who need a good ugly cry read. This story will rip your heart right out of your chest and stamp on it at least ten times, yet you won’t want to put it down!

This is such a heartfelt story full of pain, agony and tortured souls learning to live and love again.

Katie has recently lost her husband in a horrific car crash. Trying to put one foot in front of the other she decides to volunteer at a local hospital where she meets Daniel. Also a volunteer, Daniel is consumed with his own grief of tragically losing his daughter to leukemia. Can they both find solace in each others company and learn to heal and move on.

” We don’t need music, we make our own. The music that beats within our hearts. The music that courses through my veins and pounds in my ears every time you’re near me.”

I completely and utterly fell head over heels in love with Daniel. My heart ached for him and his grief poured through my veins. I totally connected with both characters and related to Katie’s struggles of how the public would perceive her life now that her husband was no longer around.

I loved how strong both characters were and how they were there for each other in times of utter despair. The understanding felt between the two of them was shown right from the instance they meet. It amazed me just how easily their characters fitted together and how they became a solid unit of strength.

There were many times I had to close the book over and take a breather…. the emotions overtook me and the tears flowed freely.

This is a beautiful story full of love, sorrow and compassion. It has been beautifully written and if i was able to give this book ten stars i really would.

Please do not hesitate to pick this up….. your heart may ache but I promise you this – you will believe in a happily ever after.

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review!!!

Katie’s world was ripped away from her; her friend tries desperately to get her to function again. As Katie tries to heal she volunteers at a children’s hospital; where she forms a friendship with Daniel, a man trying to overcome his own sorrow. Can they help mend each other’s broken hearts? Is the connection they share much deeper than friendship?

Beautiful, inspirational, magical and amazing! K.A. Hobbs has blown me away! Mend a Broken Heart is a sweet fairy tale romance that had my heart aching from the very beginning; I just wanted to reach out and hold Katie and Daniel. If I could have taken away even a faction of their pain I would have. Each of the losses they were going through I hope I never have to experience; I’m not sure I could be half as strong as they are. They truly are inspirational in how they were trying so hard to keep living their life; the friendship and solace they found in each other was beautiful.

They deserved happiness; they deserved to have their heart and souls repaired. Katie was beautiful and kind; she was also very hard on herself. One thing we should all learn from this story is not to judge others; we each experience loss and grief in different ways; in turn we each find our own way to overcome that grief; there is no right or wrong way. I am a believer that sometimes in life there is more than one soulmate for us; that sometimes life has planned out for us to experience the love and connection of another more than once. Daniel is simply amazing; kind, caring, strong, and brave. Daniel always puts others before himself; he is an inspiration. His patience and love for Katie was wonderful; the man was a true romantic.

This story will have your emotions in turmoil; you will have moments of thinking what if this happened to me? And you will be left believing life always has a happy ever after for everyone.

If you love sweet, emotional romances with a fairy tale feel you will absolutely love Mend a Broken Heart by K.A. Hobbs.

Loss and grief.
Two emotions that go hand in hand.
They are consuming.
They chip away at your soul.
They splinter your heart into a million pieces.
Every breath you take is a struggle because the pain in your chest is so overwhelming. Life simply becomes a struggle.
Simple things such as eating and sleeping become non-existent.
You cease to see the light.
Everything is black and dark.
It’s eating you alive.

But with loss and grief, there’s hope.
Hope that tomorrow will be better.
Hope that tomorrow the pain will be a little bit easier to bare.
Hope that tomorrow will be just that little bit brighter.

Welcome to Daniel and Katie’s story.
A story about two people trying to live with the devastating affects of losing a loved one. Each dealing with the hurt and pain.
Each dealing with loss and grief.
Each trying to move forward, but simply not knowing how.

But what if by chance they can help each other.
Can they help heal each other?
Can they both overcome their losses?
Can they both in time finally see colour when all they have known is darkness?

KA Hobbs yet again has delivered an absolute highly emotional read. We were captivated from beginning to end. We cried, and by cried we mean ugly cried, but we also felt the hope, the warmth, the understanding and the love. We fell in love with both Daniel and Katie.

A read definitely not to be missed.

To Mend A Broken Heart is a must on everyone’s TBR list.

For us a definite 5 star read.

Warning: Box of tissues required before reading this book!
This is a story of loss, second chances & finding love again.
Katie is consumed by grief, losing someone so close to her is terrible. She doesn't know how to overcome her grief. She decides to volunteer at the hospital. She meets Daniel, he is suffering his own loss. They both become fast friends. Knowing each others pain, they help each other as best they can. But feelings start to develop. Is it too soon? Can Katie leave the past behind and move on?
I was crying so many times reading this book, most were sad tears but some were happy.
Daniel and Katie have this unique friendship, they are both suffering pain from losing a loved one. They understand what the other is going through.
They heal each other, they are each others light in the darkest of days. They each make it a little easier on the other.
Daniel is kindest, most caring, most supportive, most loving male character I have ever come across. It was a lovely change from the normal alpha male, dominating man.
Katie is a caring and kind women. She feels she needs to be strong for him, no matter what she is going through herself.
You can't help but fall in love with these characters, they pull you in from the very first page and don't let you go until the last page.
This book will stay with me forever, it is one of the most beautiful stories I have ever read.

A great story of two people who have suffered unimaginable loss coming together, as if by fate, and helping to heal each other. I have to admit this isn't my normal type of preferred read, I love some drama and a little angst in my books, to balance out the romance, but the storyline was so compelling and moving, that by the time I finished I found I'd enjoyed it far more than I'd expected to. Katie, as a recent widow, meets Daniel, a single father who has suffered loss that no parent should ever have to. It was his scenes, reliving his past with him, that really played on my emotions and had me in full blown tears numerous times throughout the book. While there were some minor grammatical errors, the hero was a little too perfect for my personal tastes, and it got a little sappy in places, overall the strong emotions that Hobbs made me feel easily made me overlook those minor niggles. It's a story that will touch many peoples hearts, we've all experienced loss at some time, hopefully not to this degree, but I felt that Hobbs captured it brilliantly. Lovers of sweet romance, with some mild erotic scenes, but who love to read with a box of tissues to hand should be all over this. I'd happily pick up another of her novels if she can make me emote in this way. Definitely a recommended read.

Oh wow what an amazing story! It was emotional, heart wrenching, funny, loving and brought a lot of tears to my eyes! Some happy tears but a lot sad tears too!
This story is about Katie and Daniel who have both suffered horrible losses in their lives and have then met and find they can help heal each other.
This is such a heart wrenching story..they have both gone through terrible losses and are now having to live with them and try to move on with their own lives. Katie has great friends that are there for her throughout it. She soon becomes this for Daniel and him for her too.
As their relationship grows so does their feelings for each other, thus helping them to both heal, not feel guilty for moving on, especially Katie, and experiencing the happiness they both deserve.
Daniel is swoon worthy completely! He is the most kindest, loving man and is entirely perfect!
This story is lovely! It covers so much emotion and has a lot of sadness but also has a lot of happiness. It is such a loving, perfect story and shows how such loss can be healed by such great love! Absolutely loved this beautiful story and highly recommend it!

I was very kindly gifted a copy of this book by the lovely author KA Hobbs, in return for an honest review. I'm already a huge fan of KA and her previous work and was excited to get the opportunity to read To Mend A Broken Heart particularly as the cover looked so different to the 'Connected' series.
We meet Katie, who is barely existing following the death of her Husband, she decides to voulenteer at a local children's hospital where she meets Daniel, broken himself and trying to mend his own broken heart after the loss of his young daughter.
I loved how their relationship develops, it felt believable, natural and unhurried, starting out as friends and eventually lovers.
Daniel is everything you would want in a man, he's strong, caring, romantic and very charming!
This book had me crying at certain points and left me thinking 'that could happen to anyone' and it was quite thought provoking at times.
KA manages to get the perfect balance of bittersweet with wonderful characters and also a HEA.
5 Stars from me, can't wait to read more from this lovely lady and wish her lots of luck!

This is a standalone novel from KA Hobbs, who brought us the connected series.
I have to say its very different to the previous books, with a lot less heat and much more romance...but it is one of the nicest, most romantic stories I have read in a long time.
We meet Daniel and Katie, both trying to overcome grief in situations that nobody would ever wish to be in. They come together and form a beautiful friendship together and in their own ways, help each other through the difficulties.
Its not without issues, there are memories to cling to, and guilty feelings where there should be happiness, but they manage to get through all of this and bring us, the readers, the most incredible story of hope where there would really seem there isn't any!
Highly recommended. If you want to smile cry laugh and feel a part of the characters lives...then you need to read this one <3

I'd like to give this book a 3.5! In all honesty this book is not my kind of book however... although the characters were overly soppy and romantic, sometimes to the point where I actually thought I was going to hurl... the story line was great. Overcoming loss and mending broken-hearts... Im not ashamed to admit I needed a tissue at one point! I think the way Katies character was developed was brilliant and we got to know her really well. The relationship between her and Daniel was also well developed, realistic and not rushed which was nice. There was a lot of repetition in situations and things that were said and I personally would have loved to "experience" more of New York with them but overall an enjoyable and relaxing read. Perfect way to end the summer.

Wow wow wow. Came across this book and author whilst browsing for new books. The description pulled me in and imagine my excitement when I found out that in a couple of days it was to be free for two days. I downloaded it when it was free and started it and was immediately sucked into the emotional storyline. The characters I loved loved loved. The story was written in a way that anyone can relate to and trust me you need plenty of tissues. The writing of the story was done incredibly well and I loved it. I will be definitely reading more by this author. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Well done. xxxx

I was very lucky to receive an early arc for this a few months ago. I messaged the author whilst reading and was totally blown away by the story that I read. Such an emotional and heart breaking story.

This couple go through tragic times and struggle with emotions and feelings of guilt, how can they be happy when they should still be grieving over the loss of their loved ones? I cried so much.

This story is breathtakingly beautiful, the characters are so realistic, as is the situation. I urge you to read this without crying.

I was gifted a copy of this from the author. I have just finished to mend a broken heart and Oh my I really have no words. What a tremendous book. I dived right in and only surfaced when life needed me. Just thinking of them gives me a squishy feeling inside and I totally fell in love with them both and the struggles that they overcame. I think my heart stopped beating a few times when they both had dark days. I do believe that poppy and Richard brought them together. I had a few teary moments I can tell you but seeing them fall in love put a smile on my face.

Such a beautiful and powerful story full of sadness, grief, love and hope. This is the first book I have read by K.A. Hobbs and it did not disappoint. It was so easy to relate to both of the main characters and get swept into their journey. The book leaves no doubt that through some of the biggest tragedies in life can come the most amazing and unexpected gifts.

This was a beautifully written story that could tear your emotions to shreds but did not do that. The story unfolds beautifully, giving real insights into dealing with different tragedies.

There are parts that will require tissues believe me but there are also many parts that are lovingly described as Katie and Daniel try to come to grips with loss from different causes.

I really enjoyed reading this story because of the love contained within, which was so beautifully described and the way the story infolds. There are great Characters within these pages. Friends who you wish you knew who are always there for Katie and even for Daniel.

Has an ethereal feel to it that will have you loving it like I did. I love stories which make me feel and this one had it in spades. My first ever K A Hobbs book but won't be the last.

This book started out ok but by around 35% I was beginning to struggle with it. I have just finished it but really wish I hadn't bothered. I didn't mind the characters but my God they and the story was incredibly sappy. They were just too perfect, very sickly sweet and I wanted to vomit from reading so much sappy shit. I lost count how many times their names, Katie and Daniel were mentioned but I'm pretty sure it was excessive. There were also many grammatical errors and mistakes which I hate. Overall not worth the time I invested in this book and I wouldn't recommend it.

This story truly put my emotions through the mill. The grief and heartache both Katie and Daniel have suffered is unimaginable and broke my heart from start to finish. I think when an author can make you fly through so many emotions reading their words, they have gone above and beyond in terms of their job...and KA Hobbs has done this astoundingly!

An amazing, emotive read of loss, grief, recovery and accepting love and new beginnings. Just brilliant!

The story had so much promise. I got sucked in right away but about halfway through I started struggling to finish. Too cheesy for me-
