"La Isla Inutil" is a short, adventure novel based in the Port-au-sang Island, written by the Argentine author, Horacio Vàzquez Rial. Walter Bardelli (main character) goes to this Island looking for a peaceful place to live in to escape from the failures in his life. Anyhow, as time passes by, he finds out that this Island is just as bad as all other places. It was filled with people looking for gold and prostitutes and it was controlled by a violent "dictatorship". When a man tried to overthrow it, they used the deadliest weapon to destroy him: a woman. During this story, a lot of gold are in danger as well as many lives.

Honestly this is not my favorite type of book. I did find it interesting and I thought the message that the author tried to deliver was very true: There is no completely "peaceful" place anymore. People can be happy and live in peace but above that there will always be a layer of people looking for money and power. However, apart from the theme, I didn't enjoy this book as much as others. Nevertheless, even when the story was not as attractive to me, being it so fast flowing, I didn't find myself wanting to stop reading.
