This is one of those books that if your cozy mystery loving granny would pick it up, she would hit the floor after a few chapters. Set in the late 1930's, the Hook is a hard-boiled insurance investigator.
He's the best Transatlantic has. He's sent out to try to find evidence, so his company doesn't have to pay out a big claim on a dead baseball player. If it was just an accident, they would have to pay.
If it's murder or suicide, then no pay-out. A horde of slimy characters await The Hook on his investigations.

One of those early 1980's "Men Of Action" books from Warner books. Dirty Harry is probably the better known title in these books, but this series was most likely the most "adult action" of the bunch. Not only is there fist fights and gun play along with The Hook's digging, but also a lot of sex. More than you would think in the short 190 page novel.

Todella leppoisa vakuutusetsivä-setvii-asiaa-ettei-tarvitsisi-maksaa-tarina. 30-luvun loppuun sijoittuva tarina, sujuva ja vauhdikas. Paljon brutaalia väkivaltaa ja graafista sexiä. Sääli, ettei Hook-kirjoja tätä enempää suomennettu.
