I liked the Christian theme in story. I liked Poppy. I felt this book's storyline could have been better & needed more romance.

I found this book at my local Half Price Books for $1, saw that it was from the Harlequin Love Inspired series and set in the state of Texas, and bought it.
Now I know why it was a ONE DOLLAR! 😂

This entire book was sad, boring, and repetitive.
The storyline was poorly done and there was NO ROMANCE!
Tessa and Morgan meet in the first chapter, and they’re so stiff with each other because of their own personal issues & problems from the past. Tessa is getting away from a nasty divorce, and Morgan’s wife died a while ago.
You’d think that the author would ease these characters out of their depression and misery in a slow and satisfying way, but then you’d be thinking wrong.

Instead, this author lets Tessa and Morgan wallow in misery and there’s really no romance at all. I’m not kidding. Tessa falls in love with Morgan’s daughter, Poppy, but she doesn’t really fall in love with her boss, despite the damn title of this book! 😂

Morgan is grumpy and Tessa is super annoying.

Tessa isn't able to have children, and that was one of the things her ex-husband Kyle emphasized when he wanted a divorce. She needed time and distance to recover. Sooooo she moves away from Houston to Rosewood, Texas and gets a job working for Morgan.

Very little is said about Morgan’s farm (they just randomly ride horses around a little here and there), and there are a bunch of side characters that aren’t written in very well, and are therefore useless.
The whole middle section of this book was about one of Morgan’s kitchen workers had a heart attack/stroke problem, and was down for the count for weeks. This caused Tessa to have to babysit Poppy, cook, and for Morgan to fall in love with her. MY THEORY is that Morgan didn’t really love her, and just needed a good babysitter for the rest of Poppy’s childhood, because there’s, again, NO ROMANCE!

In the second half of the book, Tessa is complaining about missing her family in Houston, and then Morgan says she can invite her parents to stay in his large house.. and then he keeps bothering her to invite them! 😂🤦🏻‍♂️
He even said she was on purpose not inviting them, like she didn’t want him to meet them or something! Give the lady a break!

There’s a stupid twist in the plot where Morgan suspects Tessa of logging into his computer and grabbing files to send to another natural gas company.
This whole idea was written poorly and Morgan was acting so dumb. If he just opened his eyes, he could see that Tessa was always a good person, babysitter to his daughter Poppy, and assistant.
The real informant was an old high school friend of Morgan’s, who is infatuated with him.
UGH, this was just so annoying to read.

This book actually made me donate a bunch of other Christian romance books I own because this one was so bad. It made me realize that I’m wasting my time reading these crappy books.
I’ve read a bunch of Harlequin Love Inspired romance books, and this is by far the WORST ONE.
I’m honestly just surprised that I finished this book at all!

I left this book at a little free library for someone else to pick up. 😂

Christian fiction are my favorite books. This one was good! I very much enjoyed the small town feel and picturesque atmosphere I could “see” in my mind as I was reading it. Most of the times “real life” does not happen like these books portray it - but it is fun to get lost in in the world of a book occasionally!

A sweet romance. The situation of working from his home made this book and easy one for the falling for the boss situation. She is quickly thrown into a family environment that she craves and needs while fighting to keep her distance from her boss. The child is key to this romance. Quick, fast read.

Falling for her Boss is by Bonnie K. Winn. It is a Christian inspired romance about Rosewood, Texas.
Tessa Pierce moves to Rosewood, Texas to get away from the memories of her marriage and divorce. A job possibility was there at Harper Petroleum. She was well qualified for the job and knew the jargon in the petroleum community. She had put all her hopes and dreams into her marriage and had her heart cruelly broken by her husband and wanted nothing more than to be alone to recover. Her inability to have children was one of the cruel things Kyle emphasized when he told her about the divorce. She needed time and distance to recover.
Morgan Harper owned and ran Harper Petroleum by himself as had his father and grandfather. This left him very little time to spend with his precious Poppy. He knew that without her mother, she needed more of his time; but as much as he tried, he couldn’t seem to find more to give her. Tessa tried to provide some additional time but he resisted her. When his long time housekeeper had a stroke, he was forced to accept Tessa’s help with Poppy. Could he protect Poppy and himself from the love Tessa exuded? Would she leave and take Poppy’s heart with her?
Can Tessa’s soft heart allow her to allow his neglect to continue? What is his reaction when she forces the issue? Can he trust Tessa with his heart and business and more importantly, Poppy’s heart?

Tessa Pierce moves away from the big city in order to erase the painful memories of a divorce that keeps her from ever trusting love again. But when Morgan Harper invites her on as his new assistant, Tessa can’t help but wonder if the man will ever be able to get over his late wife. The two stay guarded in their own ways, Morgan burying himself in work and Tessa unable to entertain feelings that keep stirring for the man who is supposed to be her boss. But Morgan’s daughter, Poppy, becomes the glue that creates a family neither one of them have the heart to believe in anymore.

Told with wholesome heart tugs and around-the-table family fun, Falling for Her Boss was an absolute delight. The chemistry between Tessa and Poppy was strong and believable, making it natural for Morgan to fall in love with the woman who won his little girl over. I came away remembering that God has always been in the business of providing us with second chances.

Rosewood, Texas is a location where hearts seem to go to heal and grow. This case was evident in this novel.

Widower and businessman, Morgan Harper is desperately trying to keep his oil company thriving as well as doing all he can for his tiny daughter, Poppy. He needs a new personal assistant and that is a real break for Tessa Pierce who desperately needs to recover from a failed relationship.

The new job includes a small cottage on the grounds of the Harper home. Tessa loves the job and soon begins loving little Poppy.

Now, this book might sound like a gentle, predictable romance, but, as I have found from reading this series, Ms. Winn does not write predictable. This book will have you invested in each and every character within the well-developed plot.

I truly found this book 'Love Inspired.'

Falling For Her Boss by Bonnie K. Winn was a good book. Morgan Harper runs a company. His wife passed away and he has a four year old girl. He hires Tessa Pierce as his secretary. Tessa helps him heal from his loss and lets him know he needs to spend more time with his daughter. Morgan puts in very long hours and spend not very much time with his daughter. A good read.

I liked this book for the most part. I thought Morgan was a bit rough. But he's been through a lot, so I'll forgive him. I do think that the forgiveness at the end of the book happened a bit too quickly and too simply, but the book was good.

There were a lot of dynamic issues in this story that made it good...
