This is a nice coffee table book that would really be at home in a school library. Heavily illustrated, I found this book included pictures of items I had never actually seen photographed before. The period paintings and drawings added terrific flavor, providing a great deal of insights into how the people of the past viewed their tools of warfare.

I would have loved additional details added, particularly for the ancient arms not associated with Europe. So the book is not perfect, but it does do an excellent job giving a primer on many types of arms in use through out our history. A solid 3 stars.
