"A Creative Journal Year" details 52 imaginative and original prompts for creating journal pages dedicated to your wellbeing. Each activity includes colouring, drawing, doodling or collaging as well as writing - creating a powerful way of unlocking coping mechanisms, and promoting self-healing through the uncovering and release of hidden or pent-up emotions and by allowing free expression and self-communication. Many of the exercises make use of symbols and metaphors, which allow our minds to work in a lateral, resourceful manner just as it does in our dreams, helping us to work on our wellbeing in the most effective, creative ways possible.
Each entry in this book is short but filled with actions that anyone can take to enhance their artistic journaling. It is sometimes difficult to come up with new ideas to add a journal entry. The solution is found here in this book. Each entry is a single idea, complete with directions and the "why" behind the idea. A little science, a little art, and a lot of fun make this a book worth reading. I only wish it had more illustrations! The ones included are really nice.
These prompts are simple and uncomplicated, requiring not scads of art materials, but quiet reflection. I would love to see these as a set of cards. They are not tied to a particular season (as are so many ‘52 xxxx’. I feel working through these would greatly help me in understanding my life and how I live it.
