"Read this book in one day. The scenes move, and I mean fast. Anything goes in the Florida Keys, and this story captures the essence. Good descriptions, unique characters and a plot that could be taken from the news headlines. I'm a fan of Florida fiction and Steven Becker is now on my "to-read" list" - Ed Robinson - Author of Leap Of Faith/Quit Your Job And Live On A Boat

Vacation read

Way to many circumstantial happenings in the first four books, all of them in the favor of the bad guys. Seems like they have all the luck. None of the books actually had an complete ending. I guess this is the way average writers get you to buy the next book in the series. I will not be doing that.

This is a fantastic box set! The stories range over a time of about 20 years and follows the adventures of Mac, his side kick and perpetual trouble maker Trufante, and his gf Mel. Of course in the first book, Mel is a teenager and Mac is a young 20 something commercial diver, from Texas, looking for work in the Florida Keys. There he meets Woodson, Mel's dad, and soon to be Mac's mentor...and the adventures begin! Drug dealers, corrupt politicians, et al..Tru seems to find the trouble like a magnet...and it's up to Mac and Mel to find a way out of it. I really enjoy this series...even though their are times when I want to help Mac throttle Tru! Great narration keeps you engrossed in each book...even for someone who has no clue about diving and fishing...lol. Looking forward to more in the series.

Mac Travis Adventures boys set (#1 - 4)

Great story about how Mac ends up in the Keys and starts a new life first working for Wood, then for himself as both a fisherman and a salvage operator, a trade learned from Wood. Al
Trufange becomes a hand working for Mac, but Tru as he's known to everyone attracts trouble like a magnet attracts metal. Usually, this means Mac and Mel end up trying to bail them all out. You'll enjoy the tales as Mac, Mel and Tru struggle to Survive a couple of decades in the Florida keys. Can't wait to see what happens next.

Mac Travis is a professional diver who decides life on an oil rig in Galveston is not for him. He shows up in the Keys and is befriended by Wood, who had a lot to do with the building of the 7 mile bridge. He hires Mac to help him fulfill a contract to do bridge repairs. The main characters in the series are Mac, Mel (Wood's daughter) and Trufante, a full fledged member of the keys lifestyle. His specialty is getting into trouble that gets Mac involved. Follow along with them as Mac's quick thinking gets them out of whatever jams Trufante gets them into.

Just not interesting

A quarter of the way through the first book and I was constantly getting distracted and bored. Every book or paper or essay needs a good hook at the beginning and this just didn't have it.

Ok

First book is great but it tails off after that which is a pity. Still it's not a bad read

I loved the Mac Travis series. It was engaging and much like my life, rarely did things go as planned. I listened in Audible and the Narrator did a great job.

Good read

Good reading and can't wait for more adventures. Each story volume gives a good accounting of the continuing relationship of Mac and Mel. Wish book 4 had more closure to the adventure setting.

Needs more character development

Mac is a shadow man. From first to last we know almost NOTHING about him... It would seem that the main on-going character of the series would have more depth.
