Emilie Boon was born in the Netherlands but spent most of her childhood abroad including ten years in Mexico. She studied graphic design at the Royal Academy of Visual Art in The Hague. She first started writing and illustrating children's books while living in London. Emilie is best known for her beguiling depictions of animal characters and has written and illustrated more than twenty books for young children, including BELINDA'S BALLOON, A BUN FOR BARNEY, and MOMMY CAN YOU PLAY WITH ME? Her books have been translated into many languages including, Japanese, French, Dutch, Finnish, Swedish and Norwegian. She presently makes her home in Newton, Massachusetts where she lives with her husband and two children.

I babysat for my neiece in 1988 she still has the original but put a funny ending peterkin hugged the mushroom good bye and ate him
