I really liked the setup initially with the female character who was both inexplicably beautiful and extremely good at fighting having to constantly fend off suitors, often by using her wuxia skills. And then she goes away and we spend the next 150 pages following around one of those failed suitors as they stumble around the Beijing getting into fights for no apparent reason other than the fact that two guys who know martial arts have to fight each other at some point. I would have liked this had the original plot not been a ruse, but I've got no desire to see if it circles back around in the second or third volumes.
