In 1999, Arthur Penn was a veteran, a grad student, and a sucker for a lost cause. Art had heard that before and just wanted to go home. Unfortunately, the road home led through pre-Columbian America, ancient Rome, neolithic Europe, and a fallen time ship in the depths of the last ice age. Then the Knights captured him and getting home became the least of his worries.


Art Penn is a nice guy bad things happen to. Think of Gulliver in Laputa, only with stone axes, quantum theory and ray guns. And Indians and Tin Men. In the face of all that, Art maintains a cheerful disposition. He keeps his knife sharp, his powder dry, his chin up, his head down, and tries not to take the destruction of the universe too seriously.

Harlen Campbell, a writer of mystery/suspense novels, lives in Huntington Beach, California. His first novel, MONKEY ON A CHAIN, was released by Doubleday in 1993. It was reviewed by the NYT as well as local papers around the southwest, and was released by Poison Pen Press in a Trade Paperback edition. JENNIFER'S WEAVE, a sequel to MONKEY, and SEA OF DECEPTION, a stand-alone action/adventure novel, were both released in late 2009. He released PLENUM, a desperate romp through a bloody war raging across a thousand human centuries, in 2015. His latest project, THE GABRIEL EXTORTION, completed in 2019, tells the improbable story of a young man trapped in a bio-engineered pandemic. It will be available in April, 2020.
