Just about every youngster or caregiver has had to deal with the after effects of an encounter with poison ivy. This book, part of a series dedicated to demystifying common experiences about which children have questions, explains why poison ivy makes someone itch. It's not the leaves, of course, but the oil. The author even explains how a rash can develop as the result of second-hand contact, for instance, touching an object or pet. For those who come close to poison ivy, suggestions for how to deal with the rash and itching are provided.
