This is a book meant for an intelligent Indian, who is, generally, sharp enough to crack the most complex puzzles of the world, and seeks a re-affirmation of his brilliance and command over language through the thrill of vanquishing a crossword. A large chunk of brilliant people even when they have all the wherewithal of solving a cryptic crossword ?23 a sharp mind, a good general knowledge and a comfortable command over the English language prefer not to attempt the crossword. This book aspires to demystify the enigma of cryptic crosswords in a lucid, step by step manner, so that at the end of a year, even that reader, who has not yet embarked upon an enchanting odyssey into the crossword trail, can at the very least, contemplate doing so. This book doesn't aspire to make a master out of a layman. It just hopes to make a beginner out of a non-starter.

Vivek Kumar Singh belongs to Class of ’96 of IITKanpur.Since then, he has been part of the IT revolution — travelling across the globe and working for various companies. He learned conscience and sensitiveness in the jungles of Jharkhand where he did his schooling, at Netarhat, a government residential public school, and a spell at Science College, Patna, made him a politically sensitive animal. Presently Vivek is based in Bangalore, India.

An excellent effort by Mr. Vivek Singh to familiarize the Indian audience to this intellectual/linguistic pursuit that is slowly gaining ground in India.
