The Seven O'Clock Man

Rate this book
Cicely Belanger can see the dead, but that is the least of her problems. In her little northern town, she discovers an evil more malevolent than any ghost and she must face it with the help of her worst enemy, a failed faith-healer, and the spirit of a boy murdered fifty years ago. This is a coming of age ghost story. Set in the northern Maine town of Caribou, the main character first learns of her gift from her dead grandmother at her own funeral. She informs her granddaughter to tell no one of her gift and that she has the ability to help the spirits she sees, but she is free to deny them help if she wishes. When she discovers that a being from the French-Canadian tradition called Bonhomee Sept-Heures is present and active in her town, she decides it is time to help. Translated as "Seven O'Clock Man," the creature is visible to her. With the help of a reformed alcoholic failed faith-healer named Sylvio who has fought the beast before, she must stand against it before it destroys anything good that remains in her home town.

This book was amazing. Normally I stop reading a book because it gets boring, or I am too lazy to finish it. The author is around kids that are Cicely's age all the time, so he knows that we have short attention spans. This book is very entertaining. During the beginning there is a little bit of a slow part. But I was determined to read at least 25 pages of it before I quit on it. Instead I ended up reading all 345 of them! I advise you to keep reading through all of this book if you think it is slow. Because it gets very exciting. After I got past the beginning there wasn't one part where I did not want to finish it.

This book was amazing to say the least. It had me hooked from the beginning and did not disappoint. The book was very well writen and painted a very clear picture of what was going on. I felt like I really knew the characters after reaching the end of the book and see what they all learned by the end. I really enjoyed the point of view and not knowing who the narrator was until the last page. I Felt this was one of the best books I've read in a while. If you think you even might like this book read it, because it will be worth it.

When I first started reading this book it was interesting, it was unlike any other book I’ve ever read. The twists and turns that were in this end of the book was unreal. I feel like it was a movie inside my head I knew what was going on with everyone and everything. I literally felt like I was friends with the characters, especially Cicely and everything going on with her life and of course the seven O’clock man. I definitely recommend this book if you love mystery and murder books. Just remember, don’t read it in the dark.......

This book was thrilling while also having a tint of horror inside. The story line was very well- written and kept me reading till the end.!!!!!!Spoiler!!!!! My most favorite part was when the older looking BlackflyMan touched Cicely and she felt a rush of pain and coldness.

A good book with an unusual plot but it was gripping and kept me reading and reading. That’s why I read it for 4 hours straight. Overall it was a good book that I would recommend to any reader with an average reading ability.

This is an amazing book!! I love it. I give it 5 stars because it is full of adventure and mystery. It is very cool because, in the book Cicely can see spirits. It is not very common to be able to see spirits.
