This sucked so bad coz Ryan just do not deserve Carson at all. I wish the author would rewrite the story and kill Ryan and Riley off and give Carson another mate, someone who would take care of the sweet boy that we read about at the start of the series.
Dear author, Carson did not deserve this bullshit story.
I’m really confused about the beginning. So Ryan (in full mini-Seth mode, of course) plans to never see Carson again, but he does plan to settle down eventually? Am I to understand that he plans to find someone who is not his mate once he’s done sowing his oats instead of returning to the one he has? What kind of silliness is this? Yeah, great start making me not like and doubt your mental acuity, Ryan. That’s only reinforced by what he ends up doing once he’s gone, by the way. What a moron. (And I still don’t get why he did not return at that point. He had no more reason to stay away and every reason to be with family who could help him out with his new circumstances.)
Of course sweet, cute Carson turns into a jerk too, albeit briefly. By that point I already hated Ryan with a passion. What an asshole.
Never mind all that, though, because it’s overthrown soon enough for another version of reality. I’m not sure if Ryan is lying to himself or the author is lying to the reader. Because the way Ryan later recollects his reasons for leaving (and whether or not he had a pretty good idea about Carson being his mate) are in total contradiction to what we learned in the prologue directly from his own thoughts, no less.
Little Riley is just plain scary in his perfection. Makes me miss the early Riley from the author’s other series with his crazy attitude.
Anyway, the guys reconcile in a blink and then the bulk of the book is taken up by sex and wallowing. Add a little of the usual danger-drama, collecting some more future protagonists along the way, and it’s done.
I suppose if you’re invested in this pairing this could be a nice enough read. But I’m not and this was just okay for me.
I'm sure like most that have made it this far into the series has been wwwwaaaiiittting for this... I was.
But, have to say it was a little disappointing to me. In essence, Ryan lied about not knowing about the mate bond when he was younger. He had a very strong reason, intuition, insight.. no I think the word I'm looking for is belief.. that Carson was his mate. Hence the reason he refused to come back and chance it. So while he didn't know for sure there was a high suspicion (THAT's the word I was trying to think of!)
I actually didn't have much problem with Carson. And I didn't get why everyone was shocked that they were mates.. heck the readers knew a while ago this was going to happen with how Carson followed him around and some of his attitude towards it..
The spanking thing didn't really seem to mesh with the rest for me.. not sure if anyone else felt the same...
Oh and the similarities to Carson's dads seemed a bit pushing to me. Right down to a child running up to a 'stranger' and thinking he smells like home.
So, new generation to follow and some new characters to add to the mix.. Asa and Maurice and Kamden.. who's mates are they??
This book is part of a series and should be read in order. The title of the book says it all. Carson and Ryan have been appearing in this series for a while as children and young teenagers. I always suspected they would tune out to be mates. I didn’t expect it happen the way it did, but I did enjoy their story. And I loved Riley, just so damn adorable.
This was a good fast paced book. I did kind of wish Carson made Ryan suffer a little more. But Carson is really too nice a guy to do that. Even if Ryan did deserve it. And let me say Carson and Ryan together are very sexy and just a little kinky.
I do like this series and this addition to it was long due in coming. I enjoyed this little read and look forward to more.
I especially want more of Maurice and little Riley. Just saying.
ladies and gentleman... they FINALLY did it! !!!!! Ryan and Carson are officially an item! I feel like this has been years coming and it's so exciting. It's also a very very good story. We get to see how Ryan has matured and grown in the last 4 years. Carson is still pretty much Carson but they work so well together. one critique I have is that after Carson learns that Ryan is his mate and that Ryan basically knew abt it for years, C decides to hold out and punish Ryan for all of his suffering. But Carson literally didn't even last a day! I wish Carson had REALLY made Ryan work for it! He gave in so quickly! :-/ I'm also really curious as to why the author decided to give Ryan a child. I think Riley is adorable but not really necessary to the story. Especially bc Ryan and Carson are so very young like 20 and 22. Overall, the book did not disappoint. Even after the long wait the book lived up to my expectations.
Well the title says it all, it's about time this story arrived. This is an amazing addition to the series, I only wished that Carson didn't forgive so easily it would have been nice to see Ryan working on obtaining his mates forgivness but all in all an very good read. Looking forward to the next book in this series.
I have waited forever, for this book. I've enjoyed seeing Carson's love grow for Ryan, and now we get to see what happens now that they're older. I do think Carson forgave Ryan way to quickly, but I guess it makes sense. He was very forgiving and caring as a child. I really enjoyed this book, it was worth the wait.
