Cryptozoology has proven Kaiju are not a myth. Great monsters slumber beneath the surface of our world and below the waves of its oceans. Now an attempt to find the genetic material necessary to create and weaponize Kaiju has awoken them. All out war rages across the globe as humanity desperately struggles to survive the wrath of the Kaiju but can our technology save us as each day more and more Kaiju rise to walk the Earth?
For those of you who have read my reviews, you know that I am a huge fan of kaiju. This novel, the prequel to the Kaiju Apocalypse novels, sets us up with the start to the terrifying rampage of Mother and Lesser Kaiju. I tore through this in about an hour, but while it is relatively short, it is no less an amazing spectacle of the will to survive that humanity has. Even if it is against vastly superior numbers. I was not disappointed at any time reading this, and as such, highly recommend it to all Eric S. Brown fans.
Dawn of the Kaiju is another slice of Mr. Brown's kaiju riddled mind. I tore through it in an afternoon, and was left wanting more, like usual. I would love a full length novel or at least some more novella sequels, but I'm cool with it either way. Kinda reminds me of a Lovecraft format or something. Keep em coming!
Eric Brown's Dawn of the Kaiju is a fast paced, short story. Each scene is an action packed snippet of what's taking place around the US. Perfect for those who want a fast read.
