How To Fix Your Mind Creatures

Plenty of books teach happy, sad, and mad. But nobody warned you about the other ones.

Grumble-Lump, the hangry creature who roars before dinner. The Squirmy Worms in your legs when the car ride won’t end. The Sillies who attack mid-scolding. The No-Fairs who scream when the cake says no. And the Too-Muches who arrive when the day gets loud.

These are the feelings children actually have, and this book finally introduces them as wee pets with names and messages. Because a feeling with a name can be listened to instead of fought. And a kid who can say, “The Too-Muches are here,” instead of melting down has handed the whole family a way through the moment.

Told in playful rhyme and made for reading aloud, with room for every child to name creatures of their own.

Ages 4 to 8. A stand-alone companion to How to Fix Your Parents—though the parents in that book could probably use a nap too.

An outstanding book!

I absolutely love, love, love the illustrations in this book! They are bright, colourful and unique - and are totally perfect for the text that deals with tricky feelings we all have. A perfect gift book.

A bit wordy

Creatures were cute, sort of Dr. Seuss like, but not whimsical enough. I liked that it rhymed and the message it was trying to convey. But it was way too wordy for its targeted age group. And too childish for older children.

Can’t pick a favourite mind creature!

I giggled to myself on every page, the mind creatures are fantastic! Nigel was my personal favourite. A wonderful way to teach kids about how to manage and understand their expanding feelings!
