Great debut novel by Ashley Hampton! Hannah is a psychology professor who has dreams of becoming a professor in Wilmington, NC at Wilmington College. In the meantime, she enjoys her job, and she has an awesome groups of friends who are like family. Her life goals are moving in the right direction until she meets Igor Finley. Let me tell you Finley is not a hunchback. He’s gorgeous, but he’s had a rough time of it lately. He is a veteran dealing with PTSD after his time at war and is a single father after his wife left him. He’s is a college student trying to provide for his daughter and son. If you guessed that his teacher is Hannah, you would be correct. However, this isn’t your typical forbidden romance between a teacher and student. The two realize they have a lot more in common than they ever imagined, but there seems to be so many reasons why their romance shouldn’t work, but can you ever stop fate when she has you in her sights?

I really connected with Finley and Hannah. Both were incredibly realistic, which is the reason I connected so well with them. I fell in love with Finley and not just for his incredible sex appeal…man was he hot! His integrity and honor added to his hotness. He’s been through so much, but instead of giving up, he works harder to be better for his children. Thank you, Ashley Hampton, for giving us a hero not just on the battlefield but at home too and showing us that fathers are just as capable as women to be incredible parents. I loved Hannah’s character most of the time. She wasn’t just beautiful but intelligent as well. I was irritated at times with her tendency to run when she got scared, but in the end, she redeemed herself. I also loved the secondary characters too. They really added a deeper level to the book.

The storyline was fast paced. The two fell pretty fast for each other, but they didn’t fall straight into bed…I liked that. Don’t get me wrong, there was incredible sexual chemistry throughout the book. The book doesn’t end in a cliffhanger, but there were questions I wanted answers to, especially where Finley’s ex-wife was concerned. But, those answers may be given to me in the next book which is a novella about the couple. I’m also curious to find out about other characters and their stories. I can’t wait to read more in the series. Great debut, and I have to add, I love the reference to Lynyrd Skynyrd concerning Hannah’s nickname, Breeze!

*** I was given a copy for an honest review***

This is Ashley Hampton's Debut Novel.
This was a great read with very likable characters, I love a book that has great bonding friendships,
trust and honesty. what i loved about Hannah is she stayed true to herself, she had a plan and wasn't
willing to let anything or anyone get in the way of that, which made her a strong person in my eyes.

Finley is actually a single dad with two kids and I fell in love with his daughter.
I also fell in love with the way he loves his kids, He is a broken man with PTSD from the military
but he is strong in his own right. their was a definite chemistry between the two of them.
Their love grows at a steady pace
and it's clear they belong together, but Hannah wasn't so sure.

The friendships throughout the story were wonderful. I loved how they were there for each other no matter what.

this was a great debut novel,I enjoyed reading it and i can't wait for the next book in the series.

I recieved an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Breeze is the first book by Ashley Hampton and book 1 in her Southern Rock Lyrics series.
Ashley gives us a great story with lovable characters. I mean who couldn't love Igor Finely a man just out of the military, suffering from PTSD, who is also a single father.
Hannah Walker is strong willed, determined, and doesn't let anything stand in the way of her goals.
This story was touching and beautiful.
I cannot wait to see what Ashley brings us next!

The Pupils of Love

Teacher - student romances have apparently become my best tabboo plots when reading. Giving a chance to debut novelists is also part of my one-clicking habit lately. So, after having checked the blurb for Breeze, aside from falling in love with both the simplicity and depth of its cover, and learning it was Ashley Hampton's first published book, helped me made up my mind. A finger-clicked it was.

Admittedly, I got to meet Ms. Hampton before her book. Some blogs have already mentioned her novel and given it good reviews. Therefore, it was logical for me to give it a try. Imagine my surprise when I devoured it in only two days and became as connected as much as any book lover could with the heroine and the plot.

Hannah--or Breeze, but I will let you readers discover how she came to that nickname--- is a professor at Wilmington College, whose unique teaching-learning style including music, attracted me to its plot from the very first chapters. Being a teacher myself, this romantic story became more than a book to me; it was the realisation of how romance, yes that typical woman-meets-man-and-sparks-fly-everywhere can be written in such a real scenario. I particularly believe great books not only let you escape but you can be found immersed and connected to the characters' lives, making the book message take a whole new meaning to you.

Hannah meets Igor Finley--Fin-- both in and out of the classroom. He is that perfect student who commits to his classes, his homework and his appearance. Appearance? Well, yes, if he is determined to take his relationship with Hannah to a new level besides actively engaging in her class. Did I mention he is a wonderful father to both his children? That is right, the kind of relationship he is learning to have with them because he has his own luggage: he suffers from PTSD, and he is assiting to college to be able to get his major as well as learn how to cope with life out of the military.

Breeze is the first book in the Southern Rock Series; some of Breeze's friends will eventually have their own book, and Ms Hampton has said she will be gifting us with a novella of Hannah and Fin after the ending of Breeze.

Learning about Hannah's personality and the reasons why she is always on the run, plus Fin's journey to recovering from what he lived and his devotion and fight for his children are told in dual POVs. The experience is relevant to the story in order to understand the charachers' decisions, fears and new illusions. Breeze's second and third characters will help these two love birds achieve their personal and professional goals.

Dear reviewers, apologies if my words and rate are a lot biased, but when magic hits reality, heroines and heroes stay close to your heart, even leaving you wondering if real-life HEAs exist.

All in all, Fin's words to his baby boy speak louder than any rate: "Owen, I'm the luckiest man in the world. I came back from the war beaten and broken. I have you and Avery to make me smile every day. And that woman in my bed. Little man, I hope you're lucky enough to have a goddess like her one day. She is more than my wildest dreams coming true. But it's time for her to leave us so we will have to be strong and let her go. She deserves this, buddy." Curious enough?

I love reading debut books from new authors. I read and loved the characters in Ashley Hampton’s book, Breeze. The banter between the group of friends is humorous and brings the reader into their circle. Hannah, Will, and Nate have been friends since she came to Thurston for college. Hannah is known as Breeze because when things get tough, she runs. So after a failed relationship with Nate, where she lost much more than a lover, she ran and found solace at the beach. She has her heart set on teaching psychology at Willmington because of its proximity to the beach. Until she gets her chance there, she teaches at Thurston where she meets a gorgeous veteran, Igor Finley. The attraction is instantaneous, but the fact that he is her student is problematic.
Fin recently returned from his deployment, much to the relief of his friends, Nate, Will and Stacey. Not only is he now a single parent, he suffers from PTSD. As he struggles with his condition, he falls for Hannah. I love his character, not only is he a veteran but the interaction with his kids is heart melting. I adore Fin’s kids; Avery is such a sweet little girl. The couple struggles with the potential problem of the teacher/student relationship, and the sudden appearance of Fin’s ex.
While I love the concept of the story and the characters, I feel like there should have been more backstory about a couple of things: Nate and Hannah and their failed relationship. Throughout the book there is a tension between them that isn’t quite resolved for me as a reader, even when she begins a relationship with Fin. I think more of Fin’s backstory and his struggle with PTSD would have been helpful, and the ex-wife, what the heck goes on with her?
From past experience, I know that as authors grow and move forward their form and writing matures. I am looking forward to the next work by Ms. Hampton. I think this book is a good start to a new series by a new author.

**I received an ARC for an honest review.**

While this book was sweet and the characters were easy to like, I just did not connect with the book or the characters like I wanted to. At times I felt things were rushed when they needed to be expanded and developed a bit more. I also felt that all of the interactions with Finley and Hannah (Breeze) were a bit stiff and those were rushed as well. Their relationship didn't quite develop at a pace that I was able to connect with. It seemed that there was a lot of time spent on outside things versus the actually growth of their relationship.

I did however enjoy that Hannah was very firm in her goals and dreams and that she took the necessary steps to achieve them. I also enjoyed her relationships with her friends and the fact that they were such solid one, but again I think those could have been developed or at least expanded on a bit more, especially with Stacy. At times there were some mixed feeling that I was getting from Nate and his feelings toward Hannah, but was never really addressed fully.

I also liked things about Finley such as his strength and the fact that he is a veteran. I also liked his father status and the fact that he was so dedicated to his children. But there were things with his situation that were a bit wonky at times and I thought could have further development as well. I also felt when thing were revealed from is past or present it was just blurted out without any build up. There wasn't any mystery to his feeling or thoughts and I would have liked to see a bit more of that.

At the end when things were decided I also felt like there was not enough expansion on it either. I would have liked to know more about what went on in that lawyer's office for the decision that was made. As I have said before I think somethings needed more time and some others needed less.

I enjoyed the ending but it was a bit rushed and abrupt. I would like to know more about Hannah and Finley.

I had originally planned to read this book over 2 days. I ended up finishing it at 12:30 a.m. I was HOOKED!

Hanna is a Psychology professor with her heart set on a position at Wilmington College and a house on the beach, which is hours away from where she's currently teaching at Thurston College. This has been her goal for years, and she's determined not to let anyone or anything stand in her way. She has a great group of friends (Will, Nate and Stacy) who support and love her.

Finley has just moved back home to Thurston after his discharge from the Marines due to PTSD. He's the single father of 2 (Avery and Owen) and enrolls at Thurston College. He knows he needs a degree so he can provide for his kids, but he isn't prepared for Dr. Walker...Hannah Walker.

The characters are so realistic. Hannah is a strong woman. She stands up for what she believes in and loves with her whole heart. Finley is best described as a bad-ass Marine that wears his heart on his sleeve. He has heart-to-heart talks with his mom, plays with his kids and voices his feelings. <----SWOON!!!

Will, Nate and Stacy are also amazing, but I don't want to give too much away. I will say that I can't wait for their stories!

Avery and Owen are the sweetest kids ever!!

There is some "outside drama" that takes place, but I absolutely LOVE that it took a backseat to the main story with Hannah and Finley. It was hinted at, brought up and then dealt with in a quiet manner. You can guess at what happened and focus on the love story instead of the drama...THANK YOU ASHLEY!!

My thoughts immediately after finishing Breeze: I couldn't get enough of Finley! Hannah...love a girl that doesn't take BS and goes after what she wants. Nate..omg poor Nate. Will and Stacy...I can't wait to see what she's hiding. Avery and Owen...ADORABLE!

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

Where oh where do I begin?? Uhm lets see….Fin is a delicious, broken hottie who will totally melt your little, black, icy heart???? That a great starter???? That interest you???

This book is about Hannah or Breeze. She has a tendency to run hence the name Breeze. When she freaks she becomes the breeze and you don’t see her again. She closes down and shuts down as to not be hurt. I liked Hannah but at times I did wanna smack her upside the dang head for not SEEING what was right in front of her eyes. However don’t we all have THAT friend???

Fin is a vet who is returning to find his wife left him and their kids for greener pastures. His is good friends with Hannah’s friends and they talk him into attending her college class. The instant they see each other SPARKS!! The draw to one another is instant.

The story is about Hannah and Fin both facing their pasts. She is a “runner” who doesn’t think she can have her dream job AND a family and he is struggling with PTSD AND raising two small children alone. They find a great and easy relationship BUT its taboo…student/teacher relationship.

I liked the story but at times wished that the timeline wasn’t so chunky…we were jumping through time for the story/sememster. I really loved the build-up for Will and Nate’s books. I can’t wait to see Nate’s version of why he and Hannah broke up plus I wanna know why Stacey won’t take a chance with Will!! They are just so perfect together!!!

I received a copy of this book from the author for an honest review.

This starts off with three best friends Hannah, Will and Nate. They are in Grad school when will came up with Hannah nickname Breeze because she ran from situations instead of facing them head on. Hannah and Nate even had a relationship at one point. We jump forward to the present time Hannah now works at the college when she sees the most gorgeous man walk into her room.

Igor Finley is Will and Nate's best friend that has been deployed in the military. He was discharged because of PTSD and has two young children to take care of. Will suggested he take a class and Finley is finding it hard to resist his teacher.

I enjoyed seeing the interaction between all the characters. One of my favorite scenes was the dunking booth scene so enjoyed the banter between Hannah and Finley. The scene where Finley's mom called during class had me holding my breath he really held it together and loved how Hannah was the one who was panicking. Seeing Finley's ex was not a happy time for me and although I lost all respect for her early on she was even lower on my least like list by the end. Really how can a mom do the things she did. I'm telling you at 96% my heart was ripped right out couldn't believe what was happening to them right then. The epilouge was great. I can not wait for the novella.

I need more Hannah and Fin. I am also excited to know more about Nate and Will. I want to know what the deal is between Will and Stacey. Also want to know Nate's side of things of what happened between him and Hannah because I have a feeling there is more to that story.

4 solid Stars!!

Wow, such an amazing debut novel! I was hooked instantly and devoured this book from start to finish!!

Breeze was well written and the storyline was very intriguing. It's a nice twist on the 'student/teacher romance'. I loved how well developed the characters were. Hannah was career oriented, and focused on achieving her goals. While Finley was former military and a now single father.

I loved how the author was able to make a strong and determined female without her being arrogant or rude. She obviously has done some research on Hannah's career choice and with PTSD as well. I think the way Finley's symptoms were mentioned and dealt with took great skill.

Prepare to add a new Book boyfriend to your list of favorites, Igor Finley will woo you from the moment you meet him. Charming, handsome, little bit cocky and determined to make Hannah his. I loved him, from his sweet gestures with his children to his emotional PTSD episodes. And Hannah, wow. She is a perfect match for Finley. They're relationship was very beautiful to watch unfold.

There were a couple little things I felt weren't elaborated enough on, for example finley's ex showing back up and him seeking treatment for his PTSD symptoms. I Also felt like the ending was a little rushed. I would like to have found out a few more details over some stuff that happened towards the end of the book, but I'm hoping the author comes back to Hannah and Finley. I haven't had enough of them yet!

Overall, I loved it. I cannot wait for more from Ashley Hampton!

I was given an ARC of this in return for an honest review.

Hannah walker is starting her first year as a "visiting professor", she knows the local area, she has her friends and is waiting on her dream job at Wilmington College. Hannah has run from every serious relationship she has been in, earning her the name "Breeze".
That is until she meets Igor Finley". Finley has recently moved back to town after his last deployment, having been diagnosed with PTSD.

There are fireworks that neither can deny. Will Hannah live up to her nickname and float away chasing career goals or will she find her happy every with Finley?

One of the first things i do when i start a new book is to check out how many chapters a book it has, so i can decide how much time to set aside to read it. When i saw the chapter content, i very nearly didn't start it. That's a big commitment to a book! However, once i started i quickly realised that the chapters were relatively short and flowed into each other very well. So the chapters passed by quite quickly.

The story is well written and as mentioned before flows smoothly, making the story easy to follow. It's one of those lovely heart warming stories, that has just enough drama to keep you turning the page.

I would recommend Breeze to anybody who loves a well written romance.

For debut novel, Ashley has done a fab job!! I really enjoyed it and can't wait for the next in the series!

What did I love about this book. Well everything.

* Awesome debut novel by Ashley Hampton
* Characters that you will totally fall in love with. To me it is all about character development and Ms. Hampton wrote some great characters.
* Finley - not only did he serve our country but is now a single father of two adorable kids and going back to college.
* Hannah - she is a strong character that has her life in order and know what she wants, will until she meets Finley.
* Secondary characters - they all play an important role in this book and you get to know each and every one of them. They rally around Hannah and Finley as they deal with their relationship and Finley deals with PTSD. I certainly hope that they get their own books!! (huge hint right there)
* Ms. Hampton does a phenomenal job of writing about a serious subject.
* As two people try to deal with their issues and come together in a relationship you will see the power behind friendship and true love.

If you want a heartfelt, romantic read with great characters that will draw you into their circle of friendship then I highly recommend this read. I will be following Ms. Hampton's writing career waiting for more.

Breeze is the debut novel by author Ashley Hampton and it's is wonderful! This is a great start to the Southern Rock Lyrics Series.
Hanna, is a professor at Thurston University by has always dreamed of working a and teaching at Wilmington College. She has amazing friends, a good job, and her dog Jack, but still something is missing from her life. Hanna is known to run when things get tough which is why she has the nickname Breeze, so will she run from the new man in her life or will she stick it out?
Finley, just returned home from the Marines, to find divorce paper, his wife gone and his mom with his two small children. Despite having PTSD Fin is trying to pick the pieces of his life back up and get a fresh start. Per his friends insistence Finley enrolls in a psychology class at the University and meets the beautiful and stunning Dr. Walker, and sparks fly.
I seriously loved this book. It's so well written and sweet. The characters in this book are amazing. You find yourself laughing at unexpected times and falling in love with not only the main characters but the supporting characters as well. If you love sweet reads, great characters, and happily ever afters, this is the book for you. Great job Ashley Hampton on a terrific debut novel.

So what do you do when what you thought you wanted and could never have. You needed as much as your next breath. Turns into something you need the most.
Meet Hannah aka Breeze . She is living her life with her family of friends. Enjoying her life growing up. Working for the university she graduated from as an associate professor. Applying for her dream job living by the beach. Then one day a new student enters her world turning it upside down. Hannah then finds out that this man is a close friend to her group of friends. He has been serving in the military over seas.
Meet Igor Finley aka Finley or GI Joe. Finley comes home to a mess of his life and memories of his time in war zone. Trying to start a new life he meets Hannah. By the way the friends set them up knowing that they will be perfect for each other.
Making life choices is hard. Teacher/student friends/lovers or mom/ dad finding forever relationships. Within the pages Hannah and Finley experiences many emotions the intensity of life.
This is the first of many books from Ashley. Reading it gave me a refreshing Breeze into my life. I can't wait for the next book to come.

Review courtesy of Back Off My Book Boyfriend....

Where do I start? I feel as if this author has written a ton of books before because this story read as non debut story. That being said....

What a great story!! I love the highlights on staying true to oneself and the struggles that our military have when returning stateside. I felt a great connect with the characters and dare I say.... Loved the kids!! Hannah was a greatly written character and I truly do appreciate that she wasn't a simpering miss nor was she ever intended to be one. The writing comes across strong in this book that I feel like I may have been in the book. Finley, oh the man Finley.... I was torn between lust and compassion but intimately, they BOTH won out. His character development was very well plotted out and executed. While I get he was a "fictional" character, I could easily identify in him someone I know.

I will recap in saying that I swear this can't be the authors first book because I'm itching for the next book!! With a swoon worthy hero who has kids and cherishes them to the strong and confident heroine who yes, we all aspire to be..... BOMBB proudly gives this book 5 quacks!

Breeze is a sweet story. It is. A girl so hell-bent on making it and living her dream, she's willing to look past a sizzling connection with a sexy hunk. Said hunk is less than willing to let her go.

I had a difficult time connecting with the characters, though. Breeze (Hannah) is a graduate student of psychology and yet, she is a tad immature, and seems a bit bi-polar. One moment she's focused and professional, the next she's spouting off like a sailor. I'm not saying people can't have multiple sides, but the transition wasn't very seamless, so it made it hard to get a feel for who she really is.

Igor was pretty cool. Ex-military single dad trying to better his life. Yeah, I totally got on board with that one. He was patient, kind, loving, and, well, soft. He is a conundrum, but in the best of ways.

Overall, the story was enjoyable and interesting. The fear of giving up what you want, or turning into what you hate/fear is a part of everyone's struggle and Hampton did a great job of showing that.

Breeze is the debut novel from Author Ashley Hampton. It is a taboo student/teacher read.

Hannah has had her fill of cheaters. Men are now in her no-go list and she intends to keep it that way. Finley has just returned from his last tour of duty. He is now trying to acclimate himself back into society and establish a somewhat normal life for himself. However, he has more baggage than Hannah can imagine, and she is hiding some secrets too.

Told in dual points of view, Breeze was a sweet story of finding love when you least expect it. It had interesting primary and secondary characters. The story line was taboo in nature, although that was not the main focus of the story. I felt like there was a skeleton for a great story, but, at times, it lacked the emotional pull that I enjoy so much in books. However, that being said, I believe that new authors deserve more than one glance, and look forward to the next novella, I Need You, in this series.

This is Ms Hamptons debut novel. You don't always know what your going to get with a first book but I must say it was a good read.
The characters and the story of the book bring you in and you are cheering for things to work out. Hannah is a strong women has a plan and knows what she wants. Then she meets Finely prior military man also a single father. These two meet and there is a strong attractions there, but Hannah always runs hence the nickname Breeze.

Can Hanna and Finley work through their relationship also helping Finley dealing with PTSD

Their story is sweet full of romance and kindness They have great friends you can not help to be a part of their family.

Well written great book for a first Novel.

I was gifted this arc for an honest review.

ARC Received - Honest Review
***********
I adored this book. Ms. Hampton touches on sensitive subjects, such as PTSD, very well. The characters are believable, as well as lovable.
I feel like you can see this author's writing growing with the book along the way. Every chapter seemed like she became more comfortable in her writer's chair.
Hannah is a runner, but where will she run?
Finley is a protector, but who will protect him?
These two are brought together in an atmosphere where it is almost impossible to be, but will they find a way through it?
Will Hannah run?
Will Finley let her?
Breeze is definitely an enjoyable read for me and I look forward to more in this series.

I was given this ARC for a fair and honest review....
Great debut novel for Ashley....
Hannah is a professor who longs to be at another university by the beach...the only thing holding her where she is, is an offer from her dream university... and her few close and choice friends..
she walks into class to teach one day, and finds Fin...whom she is attracted to right away...him being a student doesn't allow her the chance to get to know him...unbeknownst to her...he is GI Joe, the man who her friends always speaks about.
I enjoyed the fact that this man, Fin,is a single dad who dotes on his children and they are the center of his world.
An easy sweet read...I recommend it.

Sweet Four Star read

I loved this storyline, it truly was a sweet read.
It was cute how Hannah and Finley's friends helped nudge the two together, but I had moments of unease with Nate around. I didn't know just what to expect.
Hannah stayed true to her "I know what I want and won't stop until I get it" attitude. But I also liked that she wasn't blind to see the feelings she had for Fin growing.
Finley suffers from PTSD, he's a father of two young children and he made me fall in love with him.
There were few times I needed a little more from these two, but overall great debut story. Can't wait for Nate's story.
Would definitely recommend this book.

I received this book as ARC for an honest review.

For a debut novel, Ashley Hampton knocked it out of the park! Hannah is a college professor determined to finish her goals and achieve her dream job at Wilmington University. Finley is a former Marine single dad, who by the encouragement of his friends, takes Hannah's class. Sparks fly for the forbidden affair. Hampton does a remarkable job touching on the subject of PTSD and great friendships. You can't help but fall in love with all the characters in this book. Definitely worth the read and I'm looking forward to the next book.

I received an arc for an honest review. I simply loved this book, especially the characters. Fin and Hannah are both very real people, with real hurt in their pasts. They meet and sparks fly, but their relationship isn't easy. I loved all the other characters also. Will, Nate, and Stacy are their friends, who are more like family. This is a great debut by Ashley Hampton and I can't wait to read more.

Ashley Hampton created a believable scenario with intriguing characters. Her vivid descriptions gave me the sensory experience that I seek in reading. I felt the salt spray on my face, the sand beneath my toes and my pulse quicken at the summer love scenes. A great read to escape your daily reality and enjoy a mini vacation in your mind. Next is the second book in her Southern Rock series.

This is Ashley Hampton debut book but it reads like she has published multiple books. I fell in love with Hannah and Fin. Fin is a single dad with real life problems that shows amazing strength and love. You can't help but fall in love with him. I strongly recommend this book and I can't wait till the next one.

I was very impressed with the debut novel Breeze by Ashley Hampton. It read like a seasoned authors' work. She handled several touchy subjects expertly. The novel flowed nicely and the characters were fairly well developed. I read this book in one sitting because I enjoyed the writing so much. Keep up the good work and I look forward to reading more books by Ms. Hampton.

I absolutely loved this story, I could definitely feel for these characters. It's a great story of love, and friendship. Lots of drama and some hotness. Excited to see how this series continues. Finley was definitely an interesting character.

I absolutely loved this book. It does not read like an authors first novel. My favorite things were the fact the hero has children and isn't afraid to show he adores them, and the female lead is a strong female. Nothing wimpy about this book!
