This book is the first book in a trilogy. It is narrative told from the point of view of Clary Ferrie, who is starting a new school due to her old school closing down, and King Ameren of the Seelie who lives in a whole different world. At first these two are unconnected, until we discover one common link between the two, Saimo the Prince of Seelie. This man has unknowingly placed her into danger at the hands of the Unseelie. Will she be able to survive?
The writing style was one that was easy to follow, something that can be tricky in a multiple narrative book. I was so engrossed with the book that I devoured it in one sitting and now cannot wait for the next two books to be released. The ending left me in suspense. Even though it is considered a young adult novel, I at 24 still enjoyed it and think that anyone who enjoys series that deal with other mystical worlds would also enjoy it.
I would give it a 4 star rating.

When I picked this book I didn't know anything about it. I could tell from the title it was a fantasy and for some reason I thought it was going to be some type of trite adult fiction and possibly a bit naughty. OH. MY. GOODNESS. How wrong was I?

This is a children's book, possibly Young Adult, and it is wonderful. The book is set in two places simultaneously, both in Norfolk, England (A place I lived for many years) and in Seelie, The land of the Fay.

It starts off with the main character, Clary, having to start a new school. Her last one closed down (for reasons unknown) and so has been given a place at a very small village school close to where she lives. When she gets there her new teacher is a rather odd and dour woman, who seems to have taken a great disliking to Clary without knowing anything about her. At the same time we learn that the King of the Seelie is watching Clary through a magical telescope. We learn why as the story progresses and how he tries to do everything he can to help her.

This book was adorable. I loved the way it was written, simple, yet exciting language and plot make it an excellent introduction to younger readers to the fantasy genre without going too in depth into the vastness of fay lore. I think my 11 year old daughter would love it and possibly a year or two younger readers would too. It's fun and don't let me saying it's a children's book put off any adult readers. There's enough intrigue and hints at complexity to keep us happy too.

This was a brilliant read, could not put it down and can't wait for the next instalment. Reminded me of the Harry Potter books good writing, easy to read and captivating within the first few pages, the book holds you all the way through.
