A Bit About Me As An Impassioned Writer

As human beings, we are always a work in progress. From birth to death we live, hurt, laugh, cry, feel, and with all of those emotions we grow as people, as family members, and as friends. I am a dreamer and feel blessed to have the opportunity in my writing to pass those dreams on to others. I believe you are never too old to dream and to turn those dreams into a creative endeavor. I live in rural Minnesota and I am a wife, mother, and grandmother.

I have worn many hats throughout my life such as working as a waitress, nursing home activities person, office manager, and finally, a computer repair person eventually owning my own computer sales and repair business. I never forgot my love of writing and quit my computer business in 2012 after signing a contract with Cozy Cat Press for Granny Hooks A Crook, the first book in my Fuchsia, Minnesota Series.

I now have four series, my latest being The Whistle Stop Series with the first book being A Small Town Can BE #Murder.

I also dabble a bit in watercolor painting and hope to eventually add pictures to my children’s book series, Granny’s In Trouble.

Oh, and did I tell you I like to be a little bit silly.

Hey there Guys and Dolls,
Think pink! In the case of Hermiony Fiddlestadt’s latest case, it is a pink pitchfork that yours truly is talking about. How’s that for an accessory? Fine as long as a dead body doesn’t turn up in a silo with pitchfork wounds, and not only that it turns out to be an old flame of the lady with the pitchfork. So now what will Granny, her cohorts and her menagerie of animals do in order to solve the crime?

There’s a twist in the plot, you’ll meet a member of Hermiony’s family that will remind you of her and then there are all those pesky family secrets from the past that keep coming out of the woodwork. Will this mysterious and feisty old gal make it to the altar with her fiancé Franklin or will danger and dastardly deeds ruin the day? As usual Granny is dressed for action with her sparkly high tops on her feet and her latest fashion accessory in hand (the umbrella has been put away for now). So get your wine and chocolates ready for an adventure in the little Minnesota town of Fuchsia that is sure to leave you feeling full of pep. A toast to Julie Seedorf for her latest in this imaginative cozy mystery series!

When we last left Granny, she had foiled a crime and, prepared to resume her wedding, saw someone and fainted, leaving  Granny Forks a Fugitive by Julie Seedorf to begin several months later at the birthday of Granny and her long-lost and intentionally forgotten twin sister. Traveling to her home farm, she finds a dead man, whom she identifies as Robert Blackford, the love of her life, whom her identical twin ran away with years earlier, pretending to be Granny. Later that night, the women of Fuchsia, MN decide to throw her a party by visiting the farmhouse in the middle of that night and find yet another dead body in the cellar, leading to a night of interrogation by the police.

I'd been looking forward to reading one of the Granny mysteries for a while, and I wasn't disappointed. The unique covers with their promise of silly, fun humor are perfect, because this series is all about silly, crazy fun.

Granny is an amazing character, a wonderful invention, full of glib patter, unexpected actions, and a zest for life, fatty foods and sleuthing. She has a coterie of crazy friends who join in her antics, and there are the straight characters who try to reign it all in, but ultimately fail to do so.

I was reminded of the Irish comic's creation who stars in a British TV show called Brenda's Boys, because Granny has the same rebellious actions as if the rules don't apply to her, and the same unexpected comments at the oddest moments. But you could say that the Granny books offer a movie length version of the hilariousness.

This is the fourth book in the series, so by now the author has a strong grasp of her setting and of Granny, and of the supporting cast. Lots of invention has gone into creating this fictional world, so just hang on and go with the flow!

The Granny mystery books are something fresh and different in a world full of cookie-cutter cozy mysteries.

I thank the author for the review-copy of the book I received in exchange for my honest review.

Wow! In this fourth installment Granny has to deal with Murder and Scandals. With her trusty new weapon and her friends, Hermoiny has to flush out a murderer and find long lost nephew. As always she has to stay ahead of her son (the co-chief of the Fuschia PD), Franklin (her fiance) and Silas (her nemesis) to collect the clues she needs. Always fun to tag along with Granny! Can't wait to see what comes next!

Enjoyed this book

I enjoyed this book. I was a bit confused at the beginning, but I think it's because I didn't read the books in sequence. So, to get a better reading experience, start at the beginning of the series. I love Granny. She is an older woman that knows herself, what she wants and isn't afraid to let anyone know. She talks with a soft sarcasm. On to another book in the series.

Men stealing twin or should that be men killing

Awesome! A dead ex lover, her devious twin sister all make up components of this explosive new adventure. Can granny solve the case before anyone gets hurt and before her twin sinks her claws into granny's new husband. Worth a chuckle or two. Great series.

Lots of Surprises

I have enjoyed each of the books in the Fuschia series. This book, like the previous ones, was full of unexpected twists and turns. This book had several very unexpected events occur in the last few chapters. I can't wait to read book five to see what happens next!

“Amelia, Silas is on a need to know basis and believe me when I tell you he doesn’t need to know. Got that? I have so much to teach you.”

Last we saw our intrepid heroine, she had fainted during her wedding ceremony when her sister...her twin sister...arrived, forcing a postponement. Since then, Hermiony and Amelia have come to a "meeting of the minds" as Amelia, a chocolate entrepenuer, is opening a factory in town.

And then, on their birthday Granny ( Hermiony) goes out to her old farm, and, while literally poking around finds a body with a convoluted past. And off we go on another maze of mysteries that come to the strangest of endings that will have you snorting and falling over laughing.

Welcome back Hermiony, to your life....and how you live it!

Great job Julie! I won this great book on GoodReads and like I do with most my wins I will be paying it forward by giving my win either to a friend or library to enjoy.
