In this modern era, nowadays I barely even read textbooks but this one is super close to my heart. I don't know when will be the next time I will ever read any Microbiology textbook ever again, but I really did learn many things from this one!!
This book is really heavy and I don't mean intense. It's literally the heaviest book I carry in backpack. Some things are explained better than others. The part on oxygen requirements of bacteria, the electron transport chain and RNA transcription were pretty awesome. There's a pic on page 567 of mycetoma of the ankle that will blow your mind. God, please don't let me get that.
I had to read this book for my class and I never realized how much microbiology places in our regular every day lives. I found this book very interesting. Although the professor wasn't the most exciting I've had, this book laid out the material in a clear concise manner that helped me to pass the class! I recommend this book for anyone wanting to learn more about microbiology.
Apparently this is the best Microbiology book out there and is used in colleges nationally and internationally. And I'm being taught by the author of it!! I think I'm going to keep this book, just for the sake of the book and for future 'for fun' reading. :)
*EDIT*
Loved, loved, loved this book and the corresponding college course!
Loved it, but the diseases by body system chapters were really more of an info dump/reference than an aid to overall comprehension. Still really interesting though!
