I’m obsessed with the Teach Yourself language series, and Spanish Tutor is my favourite. It helped me tremendously to brush up on my grammar skills and solidify them in my brain, and I highly recommend it to those who are looking to brush up on or refresh their Spanish. 100% recommend, will review Italian Tutor once I’m done with it!
The grammar explanations and their presentation is great; the exercises are good, but their presentation is ass. Sure, they didn't want the whole thing to feel *too* bloated I guess, but including exercises to be filled in with incredible little space to fill the words is annoying, all the dopamine from actually writing things in goes directly out the window. It's supposed to be grammar and vocabulary workbook, workbooks are supposed to be filled in, I am not going to be copying all of your sentences down in a separate notepad, if I wanted that I'd be using a conventional learning system. All and all, I wouldn't buy it again, I could get well written grammar elsewhere in plenty of offerings that may be better in that one thing they have set our to do, half of the book is absolutely not enjoyable and makes me want to skip it, this is not how self-study should feel like. I'd recommend the No Nonsense Spanish workbook instead of this one, maybe combined with Easy Learning Spanish complete grammar, the mileage you will get out of it will be similar but the No Nonsense Spanish is an absolute joy to use compared to this one.
P.S. Not to mention the minor annoyance I get at the start of the book saying "hey, if this information is not enough, buy the other book", and then every lesson. You made your point, you have other books, and this is potentially a subpar product that is not intended to be complete, stop rubbing it in, I already regret my purchase.
