Karen Vaughan lives in Peterborough Ontario with her husband Jim and a cat named Sugar. She is the mom of a 23 year old daughter and four grown step children and a 3 year old grandson named Ike. DEAD COMIC STANDING is her second novel. Her first novel DEAD ON ARRIVAL garnered praise from friends, family and online gamers. She also enjoys doing crafts and other hobbies. Her third book and sequel to DEAD ON ARRIVAL is called OVER HER DEAD BODY. DAYTONA DEAD is the third in that series and was released in May 2013. Other than writing Karen loves to read, do crafts and play online games.Currently she co-hosts an internet radio show with Dellani Oakes and will be hosting WRITERS ROUND TABLE starting January the 14th. Laura and Gerry Are At It Again, Mon!

I’ve come to like Laura over the past few books and see she’s evolved quite a bit in this book. Now happily married, she and Gerry are trying to start a family and decide Jamaica would be the perfect spot to begin their “preparations” but as you’ve already guessed, someone croaks. I don’t want to reveal any spoilers but there is a lot of action and intrigue that only a banton (storyteller) like Karen Vaughan can deliver. With shady characters, a voodoo priestess/con-artist and a raging a**hole, Jamaica Dead sends you deep into the criminal underworld while keeping you guessing as to what’s next.

There were several twists and turns that I wasn’t expecting and that attests to the author’s ability to weave a great mystery novel. Laura and Gerry are your typical Canadians, willing to help out in a pinch even if they’re not asked. This makes them loveable to the readers but annoying to the criminal element. They, particularly Laura, put their lives on the line and get in the cross hairs of a dangerous drug cartel to solve the murder of someone they didn’t even like. That’s so Canadian by the way! Anyway, I gave Jamaica Dead 5 stars yuh dun know (of course).

If you haven't read a book by this author, grab this and if you have, you will already know you have to have another mystery, suspense from this author. Laura and Gerry are back and headed to Jamaica. Of course, with Laura you have to have murder, mystery and a bot of fun. Donavon and Becky Mitchell are also headed to the same resort and although not Laura and Gerry's first choice for friends they do get to know each other and then Donavon ends up dead and readers are in for a great ride involving voodoo, murder, drugs and a well told tale.
