Stan Lee (born Stanley Martin Lieber) was an American writer, editor, creator of comic book superheroes, and the former president and chairman of Marvel Comics.
With several artist co-creators, most notably Jack Kirby and Steve Ditko, he co-created Spider-Man, the Fantastic Four, Thor as a superhero, the X-Men, Iron Man, the Hulk, Daredevil, the Silver Surfer, Dr. Strange, Ant-Man and the Wasp, Scarlet Witch, The Inhumans, and many other characters, introducing complex, naturalistic characters and a thoroughly shared universe into superhero comic books. He subsequently led the expansion of Marvel Comics from a small division of a publishing house to a large multimedia corporation.
Scorpion breaks out of prison ...with his costume! There is an explanation..but it's pretty lame. Scorpion wants revenge on JJJ ..so Spider-Man has to defend him. Peter moves his wardrobe style into the 1960s.
Pertemuan mereka berdua membuat Peter cemburu.
Kemudian, mengetahui bahwa Jonah sedang diincar Scorpion, Peter langsung berubah menjadi Spider-Man agar bisa segera menghentikan aksi Scorpion. Mereka bertarung sengit sampai membuat kantor Daily Bugle berantakan. Namun, ketika polisi datang, Scorpion langsung kabur dan Spider-Man mengejarnya.
Pengejaran Spider-Man kepada Scorpion berhasil, sehingga Scorpion pun dikalahkan. Namun, di saat bersamaan, Peter merasa patah hati karena Betty kembali dekat dengan Ned.
This is probably the least that I've enjoyed a Spider-Man book since I started this series. The last issue felt like a season finale to me, so I guess I expected a season premiere here. Probably wrong of me to go into it with expectations like that, because unlike a TV series, they had to continue on their regular schedule without taking a few months off.
I appreciated the seeds that were planted in the last couple of pages, but the rest bored me. This iteration of Scorpion doesn't do it for me, the Jameson shenanigans were a bit of a regression, the action didn't entertain me, and the dialogue wasn't as snappy and witty as I've grown to expect. If I'm not mistaken, they had two Annuals (Spider-Man and Fantastic Four) come out at the same basic time, so maybe they were just trying to churn out the material and were battling fatigue?
ASM #29 is yet another issue Plotted and Drawn by Ditko with Lee on the dialogue duties. The issue opens with Parker heading out to buy some new clothes meanwhile we see The Scorpion, complete with his costume which was damaged last we saw him, break out of the prison and head off to take his revenge on Jameson and Spidey. In other news Parker's competition for Betty Brant, Led Leeds, is back from Europe. Ditko illustrates a varied fight here, ending up at an underwater battle at docks. The issue wraps up with Aunt May hiding a dizzy spell from Peter.
Another outing for the Scorpion, yet another master criminal that prison staff decide to reconcile with his uniform (surely they cannot be surprised by the amount of escapes they have from such a poorly-run establishment), this is a bit of a full outing for ol' Spidey. The bulk of the content is a lengthy fight between out hero and Scorpion, there's some minor angst bookending things, and I hope it's a while until we see this particular villain again.
An easy, breezy read that’s 90% Spider-Man fighting the Scorpion. Lee/Ditko take the fighting in interesting directions (like into the harbor, for example) and it ends up an entertaining, if simple, chapter in Spidey’s story.
Ok - I'm going to totally geek out on this review! On the splash page (1st page) of this comic Stan Lee (SL) writes the following...'non-existentialistic' - published date is given as 10/1/65. Jean-Paul Sartre (JPS) was not widely read outside of philosophical circles in America as of this date; his declining of the Nobel Prize for literature happened in 1964 - true, he was gaining a wider readership at this point in time. My point is that this is further evidence of how widely read SL was - could SL have been referring to Albert Camus (AC)? He received the Nobel Prize for literature in 1957. It really doesn't matter: my point is the same: SL was a uniquely well read for someone in the comic industry at this (or any other) time. Couple this with Steve Ditko being a follower of Ayn Rand - KAPOW!
