Eve Cates is a twenty-something author of contemporary romance. She loves all things naughty, demanding men and difficult situations (pass the popcorn please). Her first series, StepSister Devotion, will be told in four parts, releasing via Kindle Unlimited.

Eve has loved writing ever since she picked up her first crayon and penned a note to her imaginary friend 'Pok'. Accused of being a 'dreamer' as she grew, she's taken that notion and turned her daydreams into stories to delight and satisfy her readers.

When she isn't writing, you'll find her at home with her husband, four children, and two dogs.

Book one paves the way for the beginning of the relationship between Emma and Father Braden.

There is a lot of predictability with this one and it was too short to make a lot of impact to understand why the female character would allow herself to remain stuck in a loveless marriage with a husband who is cold and unfeeling. Classic Stepford wife syndrome. His aim in life is to have a son and to take over her fathers business. Father Braden realizes that there is a lot going on behind closed doors with her marriage and offers her support and advice and of course that goes in a very different direction.

straight onto part 2.

The Consequence of Secrets Part 1
“I need strength. I need a lot of it.”

Emma seems to have the perfect life; she has a loving father, her sister is her best friend, she married one of the hottest guys, and her family is very wealthy. Her life on the outside is just perfect, but the reality is much more complicated.
Gabe- her picture perfect husband- doesn't genuinely love her, but rather desperately wants her father's company and wealth. He wants his life to be perfect down including a house wife that dotes on him and is always at his beck and call. Emma is so miserable that she will do anything to get out of her marriage, but her father doesn’t believe in divorce because it goes against everything in which the church believes.
The church- where Emma prays everyday- was sent a new young priest during Emma's struggles. Not only is he young but also very handsome and hard for Emma not to notice. Father Braden Daniles begins to notice Emma as she attends the church on a dally basis for reflections and prayer. He finds himself drawn to her what is going on with this woman that she comes every day at the same time and stays for one hour. He needs to know what he can do for her.
How far will they go? How long can they deny the attraction that is blossoming between them? And how far will Gabe go to keep Emma to himself to ensure the business and fortune?
This is just the first part in Eva Cates new series. I give this book 5 stars because she writes an amazing story about love, faith, and hope. Emma is very easy to connect to I can't wait to read the next installment of this story and see how Emma finds herself. Will she ever leave him or will he end up killing her first?

The synopsis had me hooked right from the start, and the story didn't disappoint me.
A mystery girl, and a man wanting to know her secrets.

Emma is the daughter of her towns big donors to the church. Every sunday her and her family sits in the front row of the church, and every day Emma pray in the church too. On the surface everything is perfect, but you very fast found out that something truly horrible is going on behind the scenes. She´s forced into living a life, she doesn´t want, and the consequence is that she´s now only a shell of herself.
I got so angry, and felt so sad for her.

Braden is the hero in the book. His past has made him found a way into priesthood, where he can help people. He´s a really sweet man, and very caring. I really loved him. So do Emma´s sister that is such a laugh, when she enters the pages. Her flirting with him is hilarious.

Even though it´s a short read, it´s really detailed, with a great build up and well written. I connected to the characters right away, and can´t wait to read the second installment, and see how things will turn out. I have a feeling that it will become really intense, and dangerous.

A sweet taboo romance, with dark undertones.

When Father Braden Daniels meets his new congregation he is intrigued by one member, Emma Williams. Emma goes to the church every day to pray and when Father Daniels tries to talk with her she abruptly leaves. Finally, during one of her daily prayers, Father Daniels gets Emma to talk to him. That one conversation starts an avalanche for them both. Secrets are revealed are new ones are set into motion.

I don't typically read romance stories but the synopsis had me intrigued. Even though the book is a novella, Eve Cates does not disappoint. The story begins with a new priest joining a congregation in Rhode Island. After his first Sunday Mass, Father Daniels meets the Williams family: Brent the patriarch, his daughters Jules and Emma, and Emma's husband Gabe. As the story progress we learn why Father Daniels joined the priesthood and why Emma is so timid. From the beginning of the book, I knew Gabe was a bad man. I just didn't know how bad until the end. He is definitely a character readers will find easy to hate. I'm totally hooked on the story and am going in search of Part 2.

"...I dream of a time when my heart was filled with hope, and the belief that magic is real."

This is part one in a new series by Eve Cates. I have enjoyed her other books, and looked forward to this one.

"No one should try to move through the works as invisible."

We first meet our main characters in a time of transition. Braden is the new, young, hot priest taking over at a parish attended by Emma and her family. Emma is an interesting character, presented with an edge of mystery. But, we get a notion fairly quickly that things in here life aren't quite what they seem on the outside.

"He is there and He does have a plan, sometimes we just can't see it through our own eyes."

This was a good beginning to a new taboo series. Told in dual points of view from
Emma and Braden, The Consequences of Secrets delves into a forbidden tale and gives it a new, fresh spin. After initial introductions, with each page turned, I was met with a fast paced story that gave more of the characters and their pasts and present. The door was left open in the end for many possibilities in future development of the story line. I look forward to reading more.

I really enjoyed reading this taboo story.

You meet Father Braden Daniels who has transferred to Emma's church.
Emma is the daughter of Brent Williams who is a huge donor to the church.

Emma goes to church every day for 1 hr to escape the noise.
"I don't pray. I kneel, and I dream of a time when my heart was filled with hope, and the belief that magic is real. I imagine I'm anyone but me, and that I'm anywhere but here"

Braden becomes intrigued by Emma, he feels a draw to her that he can't explain. Was she sent to test his faith?

As the story moves forward we learn about a secret that Emma is keeping and why Gabe has chosen to join the priesthood. Braden starts to see signs from Emma that cause concern, when he tries to talk to Emma she pushes him away. Will Braden be able to help Emma?

Of course this story does end in a cliffhanger, so have #2 ready to go.

I am really intrigued on where this story is going, thank you for the great read Eve.

OK I'm not going to lie, I'm not a fan of the priest romances going around, but I believe Eve Cates might just change my mind.
Braden is the new priest and is drawn to one of the flocks members, Emma. He notices that there is something Emma is trying to hide and Braden knows all about hiding from things. When Braden and Emma start getting closer they start sharing personal things and that may not be all. will Braden be able reach out to Emma, will things advance. I loved this story. Emma is weak, but strong and Braden is sincere, sweet and sexy. looking forward to this series. Another great story.

Wow!!

I've seen a few books pop up recently that include priesthood and forbidden love. I haven't been really interested in that until now. My heart aches for Emma on so many levels. How can her own father turn a blind eye to what is going on? Gabe is a jerk and I hope his nuts fall off and dies. I love Braden's gentle and loving nature. He really does make an excellent priest. I love the instant connection that emma and Braden have with one another. I can't wait for the next installment!!

Oh my goodness! Where to start! Emma is such a mess. For someone who wants to make others happy all the time she can never seem to find a way to make herself happy. While she may have tried to escape her life in the past she is still stuck. The attraction level between her and Braden is just off he charts. While we find out many interesting tidbits about each character I am left to wonder how much worse will it get and who will break first? Great start to what is sure to be an amazing story!

I'm hooked. I can't wait to see how Branden and Emma deal with their attraction.

Emma is the obedient daughter and wife. her husband keeps her in line and threatens her if she thinks she can leave him.

Branden is hiding his own secret as to why he became a priest. He believes Emma is in danger - he just needs her to let him in to help.
