Effrosyni Moschoudi was born and raised in Athens, Greece. She writes books for the romantic at heart, and for all readers around the world, who love her country, its people and vast culture.

Her stories are set in alluring locations around Greece and tend to feature supernatural creatures such as angels, ghosts or witches, as she believes our world is magical and not as mundane as we think.

She writes clean and sweet romances that are peppered with humour and a touch of family drama, offering the reader an emotional rollercoaster ride with perfect happily-ever-after endings.

During her twenty years of work experience in large corporations in both Greece and the United Kingdom, Effrosyni has met some of the most problematic and unbalanced people one can ever have the misfortune of sharing an office space with. Still, it has not been for nothing, but has provided a wealth of material for creating the most hilarious among her villains.

Effrosyni lives in a quaint seaside town near Athens with a British husband, two naughty cats, and a vast collection of books and DVDs. Her little town is heavenly enough, yet her mind forever drifts to her beloved island of Corfu.

The Ebb, her new adult romance that was inspired from her summers in Corfu in the 1980s, was a Q-Finalist for the Amazon Breakthrough Novel Awards in 2014. Her debut novel, The Necklace of Goddess Athena, won a silver medal in the 2017 book awards of Readers’ Favorite. Her ghost romance novella, The Boy on the Bridge, was a Top 10 winner of the “50 Best Indie Books” awards of Readfree.ly in 2021.

Effrosyni’s books are clean and sweet romances. All of them are Amazon bestsellers, having hit #1 several times, and are available mainly in kindle and paperback format.

In The Flow, Laura and Christian are back together again, but Ruth, Laura’s mother, is not willing to accept her daughter’s choice because she still hopes that Laura will marry someday a rich and influential man like Willard and not a poor peasant like Christian. However, Ruth's health declines and Charles jumps at the opportunity to get close to Laura again, according to his wicked plan. But Laura seems to be more mature and wiser than before, leaving her ambitions behind because she realises that her dream of being surrounded by rich people was just an illusion, which almost ruined her relationship with Christian and caused her a lot of trouble.

“The dreams she had initially held when she came to Brighton, to be part of the rich and fortunate crowd, had all stemmed from her mother. They had crept into her heart over the preceding years of hardship, like a poison (…). It was the same poison which had nearly made her lose Christian.” (p. 30)

Despite her mother’s discontentment, nothing made Laura happier and complete than being by Christian’s side. Unfortunately, she had to learn her lesson the hard way. We know that Laura is a hard-working woman, but she is also willing to sacrifice herself for the love of her nearest and dearest. For example, she skips classes at the society to take care of her mother, whose health is deteriorating rapidly. When Charles invites Laura to Lakeview Castle, she is somehow obliged to go, despite her gut feeling and Christian’s plea to refuse. But what Willard has in store for Laura is more than a private party; it’s a trap which will change the protagonist’s life forever. Some decisions are crucial without us knowing it and unfortunately, this is the case with Laura. Though this is just the second book of the trilogy, I think that her decision to go to Willard’s castle was like the first piece of domino that fell causing a chain-reaction of events which led to the end of this amazing story.

I rooted for Laura because she becomes a strong woman who learns how to confront Willard, despite all the misery and heartbreak he causes her. Trapped in a life she loathes, Laura turns to poetry and the few people she can rely on or love: Maggie, Paul, Meg, Ian, James and Freddie who is the apple of her eye. After what happened, it looks like Christian was right after all, but Laura can’t fix anything for now and even though she still loves Christian, he becomes nothing more than a memory to her due to the current state of affairs and Laura regrets her foolish mistake deeply.

“They’d both made wrong decisions. Some were down to misjudgement and others were due to pride and insecurity, not to forget the cruel hand of fate. (…) Fates had been cruel, and it was no use lamenting any longer.” (p. 140-141)

Charles is arrogant, manipulative, controlling and jealous because he doesn’t only plan to bring Laura back and force her into a loveless marriage, but he makes her life a living hell, especially after he has a sort of revelation about Freddie and he is still jealous of Christian who is out of Laura’s life for now. Yes, Charles is a despicable human being and a psychopath, but he also loves music and has a good taste for arts in general. That doesn’t make him more human though. If ruining the life of a kind and loving woman wasn’t enough, he also tries to make a profit after World War II breaks out by taking people’s pieces of jewllry in exchange for food.

This time, I enjoyed Laura’s story a little more than Sofia’s because of what happens to her in Willard’s castle and the consequences she has to endure. That certain event is narrated pretty vaguely, but it still made my hair stand on end when I read about it and I was very disgusted by Charles’ actions. I also think that Laura chooses the wrong man, not only because she fell into Charles’ trap, but she tried somehow to protect Christian from Charles’ quick-temper and extreme jealousy.

It’s really hard to judge Laura for her mistakes because any woman in her place living in that time period would have tried to save her reputation, which was something crucial in society’s eyes. Laura wants desperately to make everyone happy by neglecting her emotions and sacrificing her own happiness. But not everything is lost because Maggie remains Laura's best friend who helps her cope with the miseries she endures every day from within and the outside world. Maggie is for Laura the shoulder to cry on, but also the bearer of hope. Even if Christian thinks that Maggie took sides, she cannot tell him the truth about Laura because she cares too much for her friend and respects her wish to keep the secret well-guarded. It’s a pretty delicate and complicated situation from which Laura doesn’t seem to find a way out.

“Maggie thought she was remarkably brave, the bravest woman she’d ever met. Life had only granted Laura happiness in tiny treat-size chunks while tossing pain at her by the bucket loads.” (p. 212)

In contrast to Laura’s complex and emotional story, Sofia’s almost looks like a cute contemporary romance, but this doesn’t mean that her story is uneventful. Sofia goes back to Athens and waits for her final year of studies to be over, in order for her to move to England for her Master's Degree. In her spare time, Sofia writes letters to Loula back in Corfu and with Danny in Brighton, the cheeky lad she fell in love with. Sofia is still visited by the mysterious lady sometimes at night, but also during the day when Sofia reads her poems aloud. However, this doesn’t mean that the girl feels comfortable with this unusual presence. It becomes an obsession which she doesn’t want to share with a lot of people because she is afraid that they might think she is mad.

"She felt her in her heart all the time now, yearning for her lost love and lamenting for past mistakes. (…) The Lady’s grief was overwhelming sometimes, making Sofia sad for no reason at all, especially at night when the world around her grew quiet and there were no distractions." (p. 25-26 )

It’s really hard to cope with the longing you have for the one you love and Sofia knows that too well. But distance isn’t the only culprit to Sofia’s heartache. Danny seems to grow cold and doesn’t respond to her letters after a while. On the other hand, Loula makes remarkable progress in learning English, so she and Steve send each other letters back and forth, a perfect long-distance relationship Sofia would die for if I weren’t so hard to read Danny’s mind. Besides Danny’s silence, Sofia’s love for him is put to the test too when she meets another Brit who may want to steal her heart. The previous experiences that pulled Sofia out of her comfort zone made her more courageous, confident in herself, bold and more independent than before. These characteristics are reflected in her attitude towards her father because she is no longer afraid of him, but she’s determined to talk him out of his plans for her future and convince him that a Master Degree in Art and Design in Brighton is more suitable for her.

"It was all about taking the leap of faith. It said that the fear that stops us from doing what we really want is often not based on reality. We shape our fears in our heads, but things are so much easier than we think.” (p. 216 )

Besides the themes mentioned previously, there’s also the theme of war, which will also appear in the third book. Fortunately, for people like me who feel uncomfortable reading detailed descriptions of war scenes, this isn’t that kind of novel. The narrator just mentions a bit of context and certain events to help the reader get into the atmosphere of the novel, but they are not the main focal point of the story. Another interesting thing is that, despite the turmoil and the fighting, the story shows us that even during hard times, people still live their lives as normally as possible: they go to the cinema or are caught in an unhappy family life like Laura. Even if the war is seen through the women’s eyes waiting anxiously for news on the radio or letters from their husbands who are fighting on the battlefield, it’s still a heart-wrenching read.

The Lady of the Pier - The Flow by Effrosyni Moschoudi

Brighton 1938, Laura and Christian have a great summer. But Charles is prepared to do something truly vile to win the woman of his dreams, Laura. Then WWII breaks out, and Laura tries to settle in a new life. Will she be able to find happiness or will her past haunt her forever?

Corfu 1988, Sofia arrives in Vassilaki brokenhearted over Danny. Strange dreams of a woman begin to occur to Sofia. Now in Brighton she meets Danny again, but his behavior is confusing, she is not sure what he feels for her.

Then she sees a female apparition on the West Pier, and finds out the locals refer to her as "The Lady of the Pier". Is the lady in her dreams the one of the Pier? Why is Sofia the only one who can see her? What is the purpose of these dreams?

Two women of different eras are facing some life altering choices, and events that seem to be out of their control. Laura wants true love, happiness, peace and redemption. She is very likable and her life choices are tough, she must chose what path to take and live with the consequences.

Sofia likable as well, (she) is overcoming heartbreak, and also trying to find happiness and true love. Once her dreams begin, her life becomes more complicated. Who is the lady of her dreams? Is there a secret meaning to these dreams? And what of this mysterious woman on the West Pier, that only she can see? Sofia is determined to find out what her dreams mean and who the mysterious lady is.

Well written in alternating time frames and from Laura and Sofia's point of view. Descriptive detail give you the feel of actually being there. We get to feel every emotion that each woman is feeling. There is a perfect blend of, dramatic events, love, heartache, friendship and mystery.

I was hooked from the first page and could not put it down. I highly recommend The Lady of the Pier - The Flow to those who love a great story with drama, romance and a mysterious apparition. Great as a stand alone, but I also strongly recommend book one in the trilogy, The Lady of the Pier - The Ebb.

I also loved the cover, it is beautiful and very fitting to the story. A definite five star read!

Having read the Ebb, I was curious to see how Moschoudi would tie in past and, well, closer-to-present-past. It's still unclear how the two merge together, but we are offered quite a few tantalizing glimpses into that. New characters appear, old characters are up to their old tricks (yes, I'm looking at you, Charles), and the plot, as the saying goes, thickens.

For me, it was the early 20th century timeline that held my interest. Moschoudi does a great job at dehumanizing, then humanizing again the main antihero, Charles. These were the most suspenseful passages, and I confess to enjoying them more when the motivation behind his many character flaws is revealed. The Lady of the Pier's own faults also became only too clear, as she misses one opportunity after another to salvage her life from the ruinous ending that no doubt awaits her.

One thing I enjoyed more in book 2 was the story's flow. Although Moschoudi offers masterful descriptions, the tighter, faster pacing of The Ebb suits her writing well. I hope she continues that trend in book 3, which I'm eagerly awaiting to see how the two stories will merge together; which of the ghosts of the past will reappear; and what form they will take.

The Flow follows on from The Ebb continuing the dual time stories by Effrosyni Moschoudi. In 1988, after another summer with her grandparents in Corfu, Sofia sets out for England to complete her university education. And in 1938 we join Laura hoping for a happy future with Christian, but what can be the link between Sofia and Laura? Sofia’s strange dreams about “The Lady” continue, inspiring her to write poetry and as Laura’s world falls apart, we realise that there is a mystical link between the two young women. Both stories are compelling. We hope for happy developments, but the consequences of bad parenting are manifested in the mental health of the young men in their lives. Both young women show strength, though Laura is compelled by the age she lives in to follow stricter conventions.

I liked this book even more than The Ebb because the action was more intense, and I was waiting with bated breath for contact between their lives. Effrosyni Moschoudi writes beautiful descriptive passages but in this book she maintains the pace of the storylines, keeping the reader gripped. There are important issues of family values and the kindness of friends involved in the plot, which give reality to this lovely story. However, we still have to wait for a resolution. I am so looking forward to the final book of the trilogy, The Storm.

Effrosyni Moschoudi's The Lady Of The Pier: The Flow continues the parallel narrative established in her previous book The Lady Of The Pier: The Ebb. Returning to center stage are Sofia in 1987 Greece, and Laura in 1938 England. Although separated by 1500 miles and 50 years Sophia and Laura’s stories are mysteriously intertwined as they both struggle to deepen their relationships with the men they love without losing their own identity.

In the process both women must battle complicating factors. For Laura it’s a wealthy cad who lives in a fairytale castle and is so sleazy and oily he makes 10W40 look like champagne. He is determined to possess Laura and has the power to do it. For Sofia it is the travails of young love seen from a very female perspective. One can almost hear Tab Hunter singing “Young Love” in the background.

One storyline has dark overtones, the other is bittersweet and tender to the touch. Both are hauntingly mesmerizing and both unabashedly and frankly explore the depths of these two women’s hearts which drive the decisions they make about their lives. And inexplicably the mysterious Lady of the Pier intertwines their stories in ways that will raise goosebumps on your skin.

One message is clear: when it comes to love, rational thought is seldom a factor. “The Flow” also examines the camaraderie among women as they provide understanding and support for each other’s plights. This is a very positive portrayal of women and Ms. Moschoudi handles it with her customary panache and storytelling skill. If the ending doesn’t touch your heart, you probably don’t have one. Highly recommended.

The second book in the trilogy brings us back to its protagonists from two different times and locations.

In 1938, Laura Mayfield loses her mother Ruth; Charles is back to claim Laura for good - at all costs.

In 1987/1988, Sofia Aspioti works hard to prepare for her stay in Brighton, looking forward to studying art and design. The Lady appears in her dreams more often, even during the days.

I will not tell you more about the story than shown in the Goodreads plot description. This would spoil the fun of reading this book yourself.

With The Lady of the Pier: The Flow, Effrosyni Moschoudi has created the intriguing second book of her paranormal romance series: The Lady of the Pier. The Lady of the Pier: The Flow is an entertaining and fast read, has a great flow, being an expertly woven story. I was drawn into the story right away. I felt close to what happened in both times and countries. All relevant characters became so real that I 'reacted' to them. Effrosyni's descriptions create a live sensation i.e. you easily see, hear, and smell. I have only once before felt this burning wish to visit Greece and/or Corfu (while reading The Lady of the Pier: The Ebb).

It makes sense that both threads end with a cliffhanger. In this case I do not mind at all, knowing that the next volume will solve what I do not know, yet. Moreover, the cliffhangers give the readers the great opportunity to imagine what might come to pass.

This is a book and/or series to read again.

Highly recommended.

Lady of the Pier--The Flow, by Effrosyni Moschoudi, a Greek native herself, weaves a magical tale of timeless love across two countries. One half of the tale is told in 1940 Brighton, just as World War II is about to begin. The other half is told in 1988 Brighton. However, while living in Corfu, Greece, Sofia meets a man who occupies her thoughts for much of the book. When she travels to Brighton for school, they meet up again and continue the romance, but the Lady of the Pier, a ghostly figure that has shadowed Sofia for some time, makes her appearance in Brighton as well.

In 1940, Laura is tricked by a man she does not love and she is forced to separate from the one she does love. Her life is a tragedy except for her darling son Frederick. She has never really loved Charles, but knows what she must do to care for their child.

Lady of the Pier is a breathtaking book and Moschoudi is a master storyteller. I couldn’t put the book down and look forward to the next installment, as it is a series. Highly recommended if you like romance and a light ghost story mixed in. I would give this five stars. Available NOW for Preorder at just .99 to be delivered June 26. After launch date it will be $2.99, so get yours ordered today.

Also, note that book 1 of the series, The Ebb, is .99 right now, so you can read that in preparation for the launch of book 2.

Effrosyni would appreciate your writing a review if you enjoy her books and posting that on Amazon. Thanks!

Enchanting

Corfu, 1988: Sofia nurtures her broken heart, her studies in England providing the key to freedom from a controling family. Brighton, 1938: Laura shields her shattered heart to protect the ones she loves, her once free and full life having turned into a prison. A haunting joins two worlds and two souls, seeking redemption.

Following the success of The Lady of the Pier--The Ebb which introduced us to the two nostalgic, enchanting worlds, The Flow becomes the gossamer bridge connecting them. The sparking Ionian waters in the carefree '80s and the overcast English skies during WWII couldn't have been more apart, but it takes a talented author to magically unite them. All the elements that have made Effrosyni Moschoudi a favorite author are there: poignant character portrayals, evocative descriptions, era authenticity and sweet nostalgia form a magic story that stays true to its title: it Flows.

Relax and enjoy!

Just finished book 2 of this saga and I enjoyed it very much.
Even if the 2 mixed stories are pretty simple, you can t help to develop a liking for the 2 main characters. The fact that part of the story takes place in Greece, one of my favorite countries certainly add to the charm.

In The Ebb, we were introduced to two disparate characters in such a way that the reader would think that the author was telling two entirely different stories in one novel. In book two, The Flow, we start to see the stories merge a bit more.
In the first story, we see WWII break out and see how war can take a toll on love. Laura needs to get comfortable in an entirely new life, and we experience all of her emotions right alongside her.
In the second story, in the 80's, we see Sofia again, healing from her own broken heart and trying to move on with her life in a slightly similar vein to Laura's emotional tide.
This book reads faster than its predecessor, for two main reasons: one is you want to see what happens! Ms. Moschoudi writes simply and beautifully, leading you along like a body of water would lead a boat. It lets you flow along with its emotional tide and makes you truly feel as though you are there alongside the characters. Two is that you can tell quickly that the disparate stories are starting to merge into one, and you know in your heart that you will be getting more answers to the questions you had after reading the first book.
Unfortunately, the book leaves you with as many questions as it gave answers! But that is what I love, a sense of unfinished business that will make you reread both books over and over till the next installment.
Very few writers have such a gift for realism. Even in the midst of the metaphysical, you feel like you've been transplanted right into the story, it is that realistic. I think that Ms. Moschoudi is someone you NEED to remember, because we will be seeing her name in the papers and winning many awards. Her words are memorable, and her spell will linger inside your mind long after you've closed the book!

An Enchanting and Moving Story.
I read ‘The Lady of the Pier” in 2 days and I must say I was delightfully captured from beginning to end.! An amazingly well-written romantic love story with a flowing plot, depicting a range of emotions which are triggered throughout the narration, from family bonds ,romance, genuine and warm friendship, love, heartbreak and despair.
Effrosyni connects the 2 main characters, Sophia and Laura in a brilliant way, unraveling two parallel romantic and at the same time dramatic stories, which are set in two different countries and different time frames: Brighton ( UK )1937 and Corfu ( Greece ) 1987. Both girls under the same challenge: They are forced to make a crucial decision while being in love and both of them have to fight their own battles , each one with a unique way!
In the middle of this challenge, they will be abruptly forced into adult growth and perspective, coming out of innocence , while being surrounded by the customs , traditions and backgrounds of two entirely different worlds.
The Pier functions as the ultimate symbolic element, quite skillfully embedded to the plot, while the mystery lady in black haunts Sophia and inserts intriguing questions to the reader: Who is this Lady? Why is Sophia so influenced and distressed by her presence? What does the Pier hide?
And of course I absolutely enjoyed the place descriptions of Corfu (being a Greek myself), which are conveyed in a charming way and masterfully enriched by the local Greek idiomatic language, giving authenticity to characters. The end of the story touched my heart deeply.
I would definitely recommend reading the book or offering it as gift to all lovers of mystery romantic and love genres.

This is book 2 in a trilogy of this lovely story of two women, Laura and Sofia, from different times who are connected somehow across time and space. The author has created an ethereal romance that makes the reader believe in souls being reborn to live a life again to somehow make up for their regrets of their former lives.

Laura is the soul from the past while Sofia lives in the present time. The women each love a man who is difficult and troubled making for an unsettled relationship. Both women are strong and resilient and do not easily give up their chances to hold onto the loves of their lives. The ghost from the past (Laura) appears to Sofia in her dreams and encourages her to follow her love and never give up.

From the beginning of this trilogy the two stories told simultaneously showed some similarities between the women’s lives but did not connect. In book 2 the connection begins to appear solidifying the two women as one soul. I am sure in the final book things will be explained and come together more firmly.

This is an enjoyable story that makes one feel the angst, disappointments, and heartache experienced by the protagonists. The author has created a heart-felt historical wartime romance mixed with a little paranormal and suspense to hook in the reader. I look forward to reading book 3.

I was gifted a copy of this book and chose to review it without compensation.

Effrosyni Moschoudi weaves an interesting tale in her trilogy, The Lady of the Pier. More accurately, the reader is gifted with two stories. At first, I wasn’t sure how they could possibly tie together, and I found myself looking for a connection between the two as I read.
Sofia is a teenager visiting her grandparents in Corfu in the summer of 1987. Laura moves to Brighton with her mother in 1937. Both young women fall in love. But this is where the similarity in their stories end…or do they?
The trilogy is classified as a paranormal romance, and with that as my clue, by the end of the first book, The Ebb, I began to speculate what the connection was between Sofia and Laura.
Each story as a standalone was compelling enough to keep me reading, however, both in one book was addicting. The author captured the time period of each era beautifully and descriptively, giving the reader a real sense of pre and post war torn England, and in contrast, the simplicity and magical paradise known as Corfu.
In The Flow Sofia and Laura face obstacles, and by the third book, The Storm, choices must be made to find happiness or allow disaster to repeat.
For me, the best part of the book was the last section, but you will have to find out why for yourself. Very interesting and fascinating.

A powerful and overwhelming blend of drama, romance and suspense with a fascinating paranormal element!
Having read and thoroughly enjoyed The Lady of the Pier (The Ebb), I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second book in The Lady of the Pier trilogy.
The Lady of the Pier (The Flow) was just as powerful and overwhelming as the first book, if not more. The poetic writing style of Mrs. Moschoudi was captivating, the descriptions mesmerizing, and the exquisite poems included in the novel wonderful and moving. But above all, the storyline itself, taking us from one lifetime to the next, was fascinating. The unfolding of the stories of Laura and Christian, Sofia and Danny kept me spellbound, and I couldn’t wait to see what happened to them in the second book and how their fate was connected.
I’m looking forward to the release of the third book in the trilogy!

The Plot Thickens:

I couldn't wait to continue the second book of the trilogy but unfortunately life got in the way and it took me far longer to read than it should have done ... No reflection whatsoever on the quality of the story nor the story telling by the author. I throughly enjoyed the deepening storyline of Corfu and Brighton 50 years apart and how the characters lives and loves are intermingled and whether there will be an untangling that can give peace to all. I am now looking forward to reading the concluding installment, "The Storm". (Warning: I needed tissues for the last chapter and no doubt will for the final installment!).

Having read the first part of the trilogy, it was evident that things weren’t going to go smoothly for Laura. However, the depths to which Charles sinks in this book are quite shocking and I found myself rooting for her throughout. The first book seems to tell two distinct stories, that of Laura in Brighton and of Sofia in Corfu. What is interesting is how we begin to see the two threads come together in this book. Cleverly interwoven, I can’t wait to see what happens in the third part.
