3.5 stars. Another fun contemporary romance done well with the manga translation. I liked the FMC. Well-rounded characters, with backstories, and full lives are nice to see. I also like the female friendship present. Only negative standout was the age gap of early 20s and 36, where the guy is older and at one point calls the girl a child (this didn't bother me as much because the girl was putting on an act to help her friend and the guy was trying to put her off when she made a pass at him...she was acting childish and immature), but he doesn't ever bring it up again (or when she's not putting on the act, so it doesn't feel like he actually views her as a child, which is an immediate ick/nope for me). I also like some of the storytelling aspects. Lots of things packed in the small book.
These romance manga are some of my favourite guilty readings. The simple stories translate well to the mange format and some of the artwork is fantastic.
I know it's clichéd, but I love the look of the heroines with their long hair and big eyes. However, despite my predilections for this genre and style, this comic didn't work for me. The romance was choppy and there was little interaction between our lead couple. These translations of the novels into comic form cut out plot points but here a little too much was left out. Not recommended unless one has gone through all the other Harlequin comics in their library, which may be the case (it was in mine).
