Blue Hill is in an uproar! A representative from Beau-Mart is in the area, looking for a place to build its next big-box discount store. Competition is fierce among landowners wanting to make a huge profit, but things turn dangerous when someone starts sabotaging the land surveys. Is one of the landowners trying to edge out the competition? Or is it a contingent of residents who believe Beau-Mart will ruin local businesses and destroy Blue Hill's village charm? When a fire breaks out on Mildred Farley's property, just as the Beau-Mart representative arrives to survey it, Anne decides to investigate. Can she uncover the saboteur before someone gets hurt?

Meanwhile, even law-abiding friends and neighbors are passionately divided on the new business. Wendy Pyle leads a protest and draws up a petition against Beau-Mart, but when Anne refuses to sign it, thinking of how the store could help low-income families, Wendy feels betrayed and refuses to speak to her. Can their friendship survive this rift?

I really struggled with this mystery because there were many new characters introduced and keeping them and their family straight was a bit difficult. It was interesting to see the different sides to the idea of a big-box store coming to a small town, but overall I found this book had a harder time keeping my attention.

The whole town is upset about a big box store moving into town and landowners are fighting to sell their land for a big profit. Someone starts sabotaging different land owners. Worse for Anne is being on the opposite side from her best friend and their friendship is put on hold. Lessons from the past from her aunt and the minister help her put it to rights. While reading this it seems a little extreme after watching the same type fight in my town but there is more to the store than the big box store.

A big box grocery store might be coming to Blue Hill which divides the community. Wendy and Anne are on different sides which causes a problem in their friendship, as it does with Wendy's children and Anne son's Ben. Meanwhile, properties that the representative from Beau-Mart is looking at are being vandalized, and neighbors are turning against each other. Who is vandalizing the properties and even breaking into the representative's hotel room and trashing it? What does Anne learn about a disagreement between Mildred and Aunt Edie? Will it help her with her friendship with Wendy? A good book.

Another great story in the Secrets of The Blue Hill Library series. A large box store is looking to buy some land in order to build one of their huge stores in Blue Hill. This divides Blue Hill into those for it & those against it. Dissension & then violence disrupts. Anne sets out to find out who is causing it.
