That was a good book. I liked the main character Olive and others as well. The stories are both sad and relieving. You just dive into them and discover that there are no perfect lives and people in the world - just different stories that consist of countless details.

This story brings you right in and up close to the characters, who could be any one of us. Loved it.

Olive Kitteridge is one of the best works of fiction I have ever read. Among other things, it is a masterpiece of the linked story form (aka Composite Novel). The character of Olive Kitteridge is brilliantly developed. At times she seem like an anti-hero, at other times she embraces a moral code that gives her almost a classical heroic stance. I'm obviously celebrating her complexity.

Short stories with Olive playing a part in all of these. Olive is a lille difficult to like but that's what made this so enjoyable. Slowly you just start to accept Olive as she is - rough around the edges and very human

Depressing but written in an interesting way. Each chapter is about a different person in the little town and how Olive interacts in their life.
