The second book in this family saga follows the Brinkman family through the Great Depression and World War II. Researching personal family archives, newspapers and magazines for this time period, the author creates an immigrant American family rising to meet the challenges of these extraordinary times. An emotionally and historically compelling sequel to The Silk Scarf. Two thumbs up!
