It was an okay book. Nothing new was introduced that wasn't already in coaching training or Keith's first book. I personally don't think it was worth the money. Very small book (total 70 pages with writing). Read The Coach Model, and you won't need to look at this one. I also don't feel that it focuses as much on the title as it alludes - it doesn't give a great amount of guidance for how busy church leaders can implement it. It simply states the problem, then says coaching is the solution.

Felt kind of like an advertisement

I strongly believe in the benefits of coaching. When I was younger I used this technique not even realizing it was “coaching” but somewhere along the I began advising instead.

Coaching was always effective for the reasons mentioned in this book. However, this book is really for those who need to discover the definition of coaching, but if you are not familiar with the concept already, I’m not sure you would really understand the premise behind the technique. There was something missing from this book that I can’t quite put my finger on.

Must Read for Church Leadership

As a life coach and one searching the leading of the Holy Spirit to move into a pastorate I see this as a must read. As leaders we tend to dispense ideas rather than asking questions which leads to dependency on the leader. In ministry learning to lead differently and helping team members and volunteers find their way through powerful questions makes way more sense. Coaching invites people to learn to hear the voice of the Holy Spirit in their lives.

This book is filled with great ministry leadership tools, especially in developing other leaders. This book is about multiplication, not just adding helpers to your ministry. There are some really helpful questions that we can ask to draw out our coachees’ best on pages 54-55. Webb points out that ultimately it is the Holy Spirit that guides the believer, and his coaching model helps ministry leaders to help others find God’s direction and calling in their own lives.

Not just for Church Leaders but coaches too

Great little ebook with the right amount of experience, story, scripture, and statistics. Author didn’t over sell their credentials or programs. Gained lots of value and one of the better coaching books I’ve read that adds some freshness to the topic. I’d read a longer, deeper version of this book if it was available.

Good start

That is the basic of the basic! However, it is a very good book to start. It guides you, explains about coach, certification, etc and gives you books references on Christian coach. (which for me
Was very important as there is a lot of nonsense out there). In a hour you are done reading it. Have fun!

Excellent overview of coaching.

I enjoyed this short but incredibly strategic book. It was required reading for me as I was being matched with an executive coach but I am looking forward to implementing the ideas as I coach my team.

Practical Skill

I like the process oriented conversation concept which helps people keep moving forward to their goal without being a answer provider.

Great

I would recommend this book to anyone who is in a leadership position. Often as leaders and people of influence we think we need to provide people with knowledge and insight for them move forward. Coaching actually takes the pressure off of you and helps others take ownership of the direction they want to go.
