I just finished reading the second volume of 不測の蓮常寺 by Hyouta Fujiyama. I actually imposed a ban on rereading her manga on myself because once I start reading one work by her which leads o me rereading everything which leads to me actually knowing parts of Dear Green by heart.
Anyway, this was fantastic. I read parts of it during my break at work and first it got me all hot and bothered and then it made me swoon and then it made me cry. So, I don’t recommend doing that.
What I love about Hyouta Fujiyama (apart from her gorgeous art style) is how normal and real her characters seem. I can identify with Miyata and his feelings to an disturbing extent (it’s like he is me, seriously), and the way she manages to portray the gradual changes in a relationship is always stunning. I also love her sex scenes, because they are always much more than smut - they’re driven by the characters’ feelings and thus are much more intense for me.
What she does better than anyone else, though, are kisses. When the happen, I almost always gasp because of the timing, the way it looks, and again, the feelings.
I really love her. And my ban is thus lifted. *grabs her copy of Dear Green because well*
