This is a clear and concise textbook for the basics for Chinese medicine. It is a tome - heavy and thick. We have been using this textbook for the three years of school and it takes a while to get through. This is also one of the books for the NACCOM exam that they can choose anything in the book on the exam so it's important to know this cover to cover. I will be reading this text again this year readying myself for the NACCOM exam.

This has Yin/Yang theory, 8 principles, 5 elements, 8 extraordinary vessels, and divergent and Luo vessels in addition to much more information. There are nice text boxes that have the important information on that page, nice charts and graphs and nice diagrams in the body.

It is an excellent textbook.

I actually read a hardcover of this book and it was a great experience. I'm not a TCM student but there are universities in Europe which use this book as manual. It really contains comprehensive information and it's filled with images to aid the reader for a deeper understanding of the subject. At the end you will have quite vaste information on how the body works and why from a TCM perspective. For further learning there are other books from the same author.

I have an older version of this book that I purchased and originally read when I was a TCM student. It is very good, but not the best place to start if you are new to Chinese Medicine. I recommend reading the chapters slowly and thinking about what is covered. I am currently re-reading some of the chapters years later.
