In THE PROPHET, the figures in the Babylon court who have taken to Daniel - or envy and hate him - come to the fore. His counsel is sought by those in power. He is challenged by many the affections of Adelain, the daughter of a high commander; the revolt being hatched by the small Jewish community in Babylon; and by news of a potentially disastrous plot being planned far away in his homeland, Judea.

The second book of a fictional depiction of the prophet Daniel, and his associates Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Covers the early years where Daniel serves as the Viceroy to Nebudcanezzer II. It's well written, and plausible, that while taking some fictional license, not departing from the scriptural narative in the book of Daniel in the bible. I enjoyed the read, and I'm looking forward to reading the 3rd book in the series.

Enjoyed reading

It's hard at times in the beginning to keep track of who is talking but once you get the flow of the writers style it is easily figured out. The beginning seemed a bit dry to me but I am glad I stuck it out as the story really picks up in the middle to end.

This second book about Daniel was just as good as the first one. I really enjoyed reading it and think that you will too.

This is my favorite novel. I read it both in the original Hebrew and in the beautifully translated English edition. I find it a fascinating read.
Shlomo Kalo presents characters and situations in a way that is elevating to the spirit. In this book it is an art that is no less than a masterpiece of divine beauty in the midst of a fallen world.
I can read this epos again and again.
