Such an interesting perspective from an egg donor. I appreciate her honesty with her relationship too.

**I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

With compassion, tenderness, and humor, Alicia Young shares her experiences as an egg donor. Her selfless gift allowed two couples dealing with infertility to become parents.

Alicia tells part of the story in her concise and amusing voice while mixing in snippets of first-person accounts from some of the key players. As someone who has experienced infertility myself, I loved hearing both from Alicia and Angela, the first woman who received the donated egg.

Not only do I admire Alicia for choosing to donate eggs (no small act given the counseling, disclosure of personal information, medication, and egg retrieval procedure), but I also admire her for telling her story in such an elegant and artful way. With much grace, she acknowledges situations that caused her pain or sadness, but then moves forward, seemingly leaving those hurts in the past. (Maybe she'll write a book with advice on how to do that. Most of us could learn from her on this point!)

In Part III, Alicia speaks to egg donors, recipients, and family members who are on the periphery. This section includes questions and practical considerations for all who are involved. This is a very useful section for anyone who may be considering the egg donation option.

My copy of this book is dog-eared because there where multiple instances where I came across passages that struck an intense chord with me. One in particular stands out toward the end: Alicia talks about the pain of infertility in chapter thirteen. Her compassion and recognition of the grieving that this process creates struck me to the core. I thought to myself, 'Yes. She gets it. Even though she has not experienced infertility, she really gets it.' Alicia, I thank you for that, and for penning a book that I believe will help many, many people.

Few gifts can compare to donating eggs to a person or couple struggling to have a baby. Journalist/Author Alicia Young gave that gift to two friends, and in this book, has given another gift to anyone looking for insight and information regarding egg donation, including a personal account.

The author makes clear that the book is primarily from her personal experience and perspective, and her story illustrates how vastly donations can differ. In one case, her egg donation and subsequent baby were discussed openly, and there are sections written by that recipient, as well as her now-teen daughter, which offer additional valuable viewpoints. The other donation, also resulting in a baby, was kept quiet by the recipient, with whom the author is no longer in contact. The stark contrast invites potential donors to consider the great many issues involved in egg donation.

Also included are questions and checklists for those considering being a donor, as well as those considering using a donor, both of which entail an enormous amount of thought and emotion.

This is a lovely, heartfelt story, and a highly readable resource.

Written with compassion, humor and honesty, this account of one woman's journey as a two-time egg donor is riveting. I couldn't put it down! Additionally, the last part of the book is filled with indispensable information for potential donors and recipients- everything from financial and legal considerations to tips for choosing a donor.
