Strong mystery with a few distracting details
The central mystery hooked me quickly. A Stinger missile tied to CIA inventory in Libya somehow ends up in Afghanistan and nearly brings down a Chinook. That is a strong premise, and the political and intelligence angle gives the story plenty of momentum.
The book can be a little heavy on explanation, especially early on, and a few technical and historical details pulled me out of the story. In this kind of military thriller, those things matter.
Still, the main question is compelling enough to keep me reading: how did that missile get there, and who was behind it? The setup works, the conspiracy angle is intriguing, and I want to see where the trail leads.
