I inhaled this book, which is really saying something, because sometimes academic books about writing cannot be inhaled. This is a collection of mostly short essays about what writing does in the world in ways that I don't think are talked about enough. Such as how story is turned into fact in legal writing, or how the personal I is removed from academic writing, as if what we write about isn't inherently personal. If you write in the world, are an academic of any sort who writes into your discipline -- you'll find yourself in these pages. You will begin to further question how you write, and how to move forward from there.
