I am preparing for a canoe trip on the Allagash this summer with the Boy Scouts and this book helps rekindle the memories from my 2011 trip as well as build the anticipation for this summer. I love the way Tim tells the stories of the past and the present and how he ties them together. Tim's writing brings me back to peaceful summer days on the waterway with bald eagles flying above us and moose in the distance with new wonder around every corner.

Although the grammar and spelling are not quite accurate, the storyline is great. It is an easy read and the author has mastered the complicated task of writing in the then and now mode. The story is realistic based and the author's experiences in the woods and it very entertaining. It maps out the Allagash Waterway in a way that the reader can understand. It also includes historical references to former camps and places of interest in the Allagash. I would recommend this book to anyone that enjoys reading about Maine, canoeing, and wants to learn more about being in the woods.
