The Dragon Who Couldn't Breathe Fire is an amazing book for any child! Growing up in American suburbia, I had never seen or read a single children's book that focused on Chinese/Asian culture, and I doubt any of my friends or classmates had either. This book does a great job of providing a little look into a culture/mythology that many kids may not be familiar with. And it does so by wrapping it in a heartwarming story of a kid that doesn't fit in, showing how their differences are not only cool, but ultimately save the day. Whether Asian or not, I hope that this shows up on every kid's book shelf! I know it'll be there for mine.

My grandmother read this to my little cousins for story time tonight. One cousin just started kindergarten and one in 3rd grade and they both loved it! They had so much fun predicting where the story would go and sharing what they were doing in school that was like the dragons. Only downside is that now my littlest cousin wants to be driven to school in an ice cream truck just like Long Long. When I asked what my cousins thought of the story they applauded!

Such a beautiful, heartwarming story. It’s so wonderful to watch Long Long go through the process of discovering who he truly is throughout the story, and becoming proud of what makes him unique. The illustrations are gorgeous, and the story makes me feel so seen as a Chinese American immigrant. I’m so glad that we have more stories like this, and that more people will be educated on the magic of Chinese dragons!!

A beautiful book with an important message of being able to show yourself and share different background with others. Can't wait to read it to our nieces!
