About the author

Jen has been in love with language for as long as she can remember. She worked as an editor of children's books in London for ten years, authoring and editing titles on as diverse a range of subjects as the politics of creating a micronation and the rewriting of classic fairytales, to folk-dancing meerkats and Justin Bieber. When I first picked up the book and thumbed through it my first reaction was what a wonderful tool to have in my classroom. I would teach a unit on the jungle and then let each child have his own personal book to review the theme. This book allows him not only to learn more about jungle life but to have fun digesting the facts and information. What child isn't obsessed with bright, colourful stickers, mind-boggling puzzles and interactive activities? It would be a perfect culmination to my teaching efforts ... one that engages each child physically, one which involves pencils, pens, paint, stickers etc., but mostly their creative seeking minds.


Lonely Planet Kids' brand new series of activity books, "Let's Explore" is very impressive. Others in the series include, "Let's Explore Safari" and "Let's Explore Ocean." Every one of these are of the highest quality and so worthy of purchase (and praise).

From packing to tracking, colouring exotic birds, drawing, connecting the dots, matching, filling in the blanks, and finding hidden words, it's all there for inquisitive and imaginative minds to venture into. The duo invites the reader to come along with them and discover the magic of the rainforest together. A lovely feature is that the last page gives you all the answers... but adds a warning...no cheating! Now who would do that I wonder? The book is perfect to take on a road trip because not only is it kid-friendly and playful it is also very interesting! I highly recommend this series.
