О себе: Я люблю сказки. И слушать, и придумывать. Сказки с закрученным сюжетом, с интересным антуражем, с яркими персонажами. Где сюжетные повороты не только рисуют красивую картинку, но и складываются в единое полотно.

The story is entertaining, the characters are likable, the writing is excellent.
The magic system is somewhat original, although past the first explanation of why things are how they are this information is never really used again. The back-story of the dwarves is excellent, too.
Fun side adventures abound.
But giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because:
The characters are a little flat.
The Princess Bride aspect is only occasionally relevant to the story at hand, and really grates for the first third of the story or so - I can't tell if it got better or I just got used to it after that.
The book feels like it can't decide between being a children's book and a YA novel.
The number of unadulterated tropes is a wee bit high for my liking (but some are spoilers, so I won't go into them here)
A fire-mage named Ember, really? This is on par with General Grievous in the star wars prequels (possibly named after Grievous Bodily Harm, one of the sidekick horsemen of the apocalypse in Good Omens)
What the [censored] is up with Gary?
I still enjoyed the book quite a bit, and am eagerly awaiting the next one.
(edit: I've re-read it and found myself enjoying it quite a lot, so bumping back up to 5.)

Первая книга цикла "Нехоженые дороги" похожа по задумке на "Профессия: Ведьма" Ольги Громыко и Гарри Поттера - действие также начинается в колдовской школе. Однако, очень быстро автор уходит с проторенной тропки этих бестселлеров и заполняет страницы плодами своей неуемной фантазией. Яркие и запоминающиеся персонажи, о которых хочется узнать все больше и больше, неожиданные повороты сюжета - все это делает книгу "Нехоженые дороги" очень индивидуальной.
Несмотря на пока что небольшой послужной список, автор уже постигла дзен удерживания внимания читателя. Я проглотила книгу буквально за выходные - совершенно не могла оторваться, хотя удовольствие хотелось растянуть на подольше.
Автор обещает цикл из 4 книг - очень надеюсь, что следующие книги выйдут в свет уже скоро!
