A book you don't want to put down.

A mix of tragedy, romance and social commentary on gender and class roles of the time. Well written and holds your interest right to the end.

Set in Paisley in the early 1800's, the story is based on the sinking of the Countess of Eglington on Paisley Canal and it's after effects on the life of one family. The history of the early mills and the layout of the streets is a credit to Miss Hoods research.
