Unfortunately, it looks like this was cancelled before the war with the Archon was resolved. I found it interesting that Dark Horse resurrected an old villain from The Mark, a Dark Horse comic from 1987 that only lasted 6 issues and has never been collected. Overall, this was a pretty great book if you like pulp heroes with a modern bent.

I'm presuming sales led to what feels like an abbreviated end to this title. A bit of shame, in my opinion, as this was one of the rare good reboots of an old pulp character. Williamson did a good job of dealing with Ted Albright's man out of time, all the while avoiding the maudlin musings that many writers keep putting Steve Rogers through.

The introduction of The Mark and Archon was a bit of nostalgic fun for me, and have the good captain a decent big bad to deal with. I would have liked resolution as to Helios' identity, even though I think my guess (not going there in case anyone decides to read these trades) remains right.

I don't know why I am giving this book two stars. It really only deserves one. I know Captain Midnight is a character from before World War II, but damn does this book feel like it is straight out of the 90s, and not in a good way. This book is Marvel Heroes Reborn, basically, replacing Captain America, with Captain Midnight.
there is so much dialogue in this book, where the main Villain is saying "I am so much more powerful than you. You are going to see, when I win!" and the main hero is saying "I am going to stop you!"
I think I am giving it the two stars because I am happy that they really tried to push these Dark Horse owned superheroes, and they really tried to have their own shared universe, but with writing like this, it is clear to see why it has not become anywhere near as successful as the Valiant reboot.
