Quite a buffet of ideas!

The author is fearless and presents to you an intrepid take on the evils persisting in our society.

The stage is set around a married couple that discusses the malpractices and misguided ideologies of the people associated with them.

The man is a doctor and the wife is a teacher and they touch many a lives to present a colossal variety of modern thought processes.

The third gender, female infanticide, honor killings, child marriages and all double standards are discussed with a frank and open attitude. I guess the author promotes the ideologies where it has been registered in ourselves that everything that is old is not correct.

Certain traditions have to be altered with the passage of time in the sand timer.

Also, presiding over this breakfast tête-à-tête of the couple is the God man Paul. And hence the name God's Table: The Last Supper. He represents the view of God on the matters and draws out a universal decision.

All in all, 3 stars for the topics raised.
Candid is the word I am looking for.

Note: The book was sent by the author in exchange for an honest review. Thanks Santosh for the copy.

The book deals with few issues that are prevalent in the society. Amrita and Robert, the couple discuss about these issues when they sit together for supper.

Then we have St. Paul who gives his view based on Bible. The authors have deliberately chose Paul over any other disciples of Jesus, as his letters to the Chruches advises on ways to live a life in God. Appreciate the authors for the clever choice.

The relevance of the points given from the scripture makes us wonder if the topics discussed are present in our society longer than we thought and have we unnoticed them to such an extent that it has corrupted our body, mind and soul.

Like all the previous books, the authors have maintained the conservation style of writing. Simple language makes it an easy read and there is a tremendous improvement in grammar and spellings when compared to the first book.

Happy to know that the authors have taken the feedbacks positively and focused on it. I felt that there was need for a bit more clarity on the points stated by Paul as not everyone would relate to the Bible or his preachings.

Another good book to be read and discussed.

God’s Table is neither a short story collection nor a novel. It is a collection of discussions about social issues. It revolves around a couple, one doctor and other a teacher. During every meal together, they discuss a social issue they faced that day and in the end ask a God-man for clarity.

The couple discuss about evils of education, ethical and moral limits, euthanasia, elections, problems caused by wealth, honour killing, sexual abuse, death, effect of social media, ill treatment of girls, killings in the name of religion and medical profession. Concept is good, but the God-man Paul popping out from nowhere seems odd. This book is basically food for thought.

Some really good dishes were served on this table

A huge thanks to the author for providing me with a copy of the book

As with the rest of the author’s work, this too is a collection of short stories and fortunately I do not have to pick chapter after chapter to discuss the book as each story comes with a consistency that I have till now not seen In the author’s work

I would not say that the book is the best but this book has a very strong layout and format to it which makes it a smoother ride.

The author does not treat this as a mere collection of short stories and because of which he has cunningly picked up the meat of the matter and rolling with it. In earlier books where the author would construct a little story to put forward his views, this time he has majorly used the setting of a couple having conversation over a breakfast as the basic theme to express his views and which has helped the author in a lot many ways as he did not had to worry about a proper start and end to convey his view point and focus rather than on the things that he wanted to say

Each chapter brings up a good point for discussion and does successfully brings out the two sides of the coin convincingly in respect to the theme and scene setting and does give a proper execution making it a very smooth ride

I had basically problem with the conclusion of each stories which has nothing to do with the layout or flow but the content because I felt that the conclusion to each chapter were just generic or diplomatic but not actual answers to the question that was raised by the books but that is completely a perspective matter as some might say that was the best answers

The book has a consistency and a well followed theme raising some pretty good questions and voicing it in a very constructive way. The book maintains a good flow and is well executed plus it’s a quick read and quite harmless with its content and on your time

The book begins with a short introduction about the painting of Leonardo Da Vinci named “The Last Supper”. The title of the book is intriguing so as the cover which shows different evil threats (murder, terrorism, abuse, alcohol, corruption, drug, suicide etc.) of the society in each and every dish placed on the table.

The whole book is a collection of opinions and discussion on particular topics. There are twelve topics which are submerged in the book and are discussed by the characters on the dining table. Beginning with the very first topic.

Authors have done a good work in his book. All the selected topics covered in the book are important to be aware of by every individual. Apart from it, the discussion on each topic is really catchy and praiseworthy.

The writing style is simple. Three characters take part in narrating the book named Amrita, Robert and Paul. They discuss over certain topics and listen to the views of each other. The main character in the book is Paul who speaks at last and the rest both agreed on the same.

Although the narration was smooth but it may felt edgy sometimes when reader finds some of the grammatical mistakes making the flow weak.

A worthy read.

Yet another social subject from Author Santosh and team! This time, it is in the form of a conversational discussion between a couple over their dinners and breakfast tables. They discuss about twelve major social and personal crisis that prevail in our society. At the end of each discussion, they seek the advice of Paul, a Godly man, who enlightens the readers with his unbiased, expert opinions.

A few of the topics that are discussed are education system, euthanasia, honour killing, abuse and social media.

God's Table is a quick read to remind all of us of the atrocities happening around us. The book rightly educates the readers about the intricacies of our society.

Please take part, spread awareness!

Thanks Santosh for sharing the book with me.
I like that the author is trying to create awareness and bring out lots of social issues being neglected or being put under the carpet by everyone.

The book is written in a nice format with Husband and wife discussing issues over meals and then asking PAUL for his view.
The topics covered and very relevant to the current times and really makes you think.

Although the book has good topic and cause , the writing can be little better and rather than portraying as a Documentary style narration a story could be build around.

I give this Book
2/5 and 1 more for the cause

I got this book for free from the author for an honest review. Thanks to the author Santosh Avvannavar for sending the book to me.

The book is about various discussions that take place between a couple, Robert and Amrita.

The discussions include private education scams to liquer tragedies to Euthanasia to general elections to health to hounour killing to child abuse to death to social media to girl child to Stains murder to doctors rural postings.

The chosen topics are good and relevant but the discussions are banal and boring. A well read person already knows about the raised issues and expects some deep analysis and some more perspectives. There is nothing new offered in the book.

A discussion becomes illogical as soon as you start referring to the GOD. When Robert says that "HE(The God) may chasten his children because of various sins" and Amrita agreed with him l but I couldn't.

I liked the discussion on social media. Being an avid user of social media I could see the pitfalls.

The book is below average and has nothing new to offer. Probably I am a wrong person to read this kind of book.

God's Table - The Last Supper is a book by Santosh Avvanavar, Jyothi Byahatti and Dr. Sandeep Huilgol which discusses about various issues that we are facing these days. Some of the problems discussed in the book are persistent for a long time while some have erupted very recently though the similarity being their severity.

The book has 12 short stories and each story talks about one problem. It has three characters interacting with each other discussing the problems, their thoughts on it and the probable solutions.

The book has social message that is very much socially relevant and solutions that are significant if one wishes to accept them to implement.

Again, its probably me - but I didn't find anything sensible in the whole book. It has obviously pseudo-intellectual conversations sprinkled with bits and pieces of random facts and information... Took me almost a month to read this is 60-odd page book - which speaks volumes about it. I'm not going to sugercoat this by writing a pretentious review. Read this book only if you're mentally prepared to get bored out of your mind!
