Her whole life, Brianna Macgregor longed for adventure, and when the time came, she embraced it with her whole being. A horrible tragedy cured her forever, until Cable Addison came to Brook Hollow.
A former Navy SEAL, Cable Addison is ready to trade mission specs for curriculum guidelines. His appearance as a kindergarten teacher makes waves, but he’s settling into his new life exactly the way he planned. He even has a new romance going with the teacher across the hall, someone he might be able to spend the rest of his life with.
But adventure has followed him in dangerous ways, and Brianna has to decide if love is worth the risk.
NOTE: This book was originally published in 2007. This is an updated reissue, but the story has not substantially changed. Brianna’s Navy SEAL serves as a bridge from my straight contemporary romances to my action-adventure romances. Because even though Brianna overcame her need for adventure before this book started…well, it manages to find her anyway.
Natalie J. Damschroder hasn't done anything remotely worthy of bio documentation in a very long time, unless you count making up the romantic adventures that her characters live out in her books. She loves combining end-of-the-world stakes with the relationships that make those stakes personal. Love with a Shot of Adrenaline has infused nearly every story she's published. Whether you like quick reads you can finish in a day or sinking into longer books, you'll find something to satisfy your craving for action, romance, and happy endings. She also writes paranormal young adult romance as NJ Damschroder, where all of the same elements apply.
Besides her dozens of published books, what Natalie is most proud of is her family. She and her husband have been married over 30 years and still have the kind of partnership she makes her characters fight for every day. They've raised two awesome kids now living their own fulfilling lives, which you would think would mean she'd write more books faster. But she's enjoying reading, relaxing with good TV, and sleeping too much to give any of that up. In the fall and winter, almost nothing will keep her from cheering on her New England Patriots, even though they don't win as much anymore. * * ARC received on behalf of obsessed by books for an honest review * * Brianna is a risk taker, a adventure seeker until the world changed her mind. cable is a sexy school teacher who also happens to be ex-navy and gave up seeking adventure, cause it got him in trouble. cable and Brianna meet a there are sparks, cable is everything she could want, only he lacking adventure. when these take a chance old enemies resurface and Brianna isn't sure love is worth the risk, is willing to take the adventure. 4 out of 5.
Liked this fine, but wanted to like it better. Ultimately, it seemed vert disjointed to me, with the on and off relationship and the confusing and sometimes contradictory reasons the hero and heroine keep expressing. Since Real Life is often disjointed, confusing and contradictory, I am ok with that idea, but just didn't enjoy the way it was implemented in this one. Still it was not a bad read and I particularly liked how one non-sympathetic character wound up doing the right thing.
