Nexium, Zantac, Rolaids, Tums...have you tried all the drugs only to be on higher and higher doses and still experiencing heartburn? Have you heard the common nutrition advice-eat less fat, stop overeating, eliminate triggers (like delicious chocolate and wine)-and heeded it, only to be let down by your results? Maybe your symptoms, in fact, are getting worse. And this is exactly the problem with conventional treatments. They can free you of acid refluxing into your esophagus, but they often do so at the expense of your long-term health. They fix one problem but in the process cause a multitude of other ones for which more drugs are often prescribed.
Heartburn-Free Without the Drugs
You may be ready to ditch the drugs and conventional solutions and find a natural solution for your persistent heartburn...but what's the answer? How about a 30-day plan that will eliminate heartburn and do a lot to reduce other complaints, like bloating, inflammation, fatigue, weight gain, nausea, constipation, gallbladder problems, and irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), to name a few? And unlike acid-blocking drugs, this plan is designed to make you healthy, not just take away your symptoms.

Started the way of eating less than 2 weeks ago, I have been able to go from 60mg of PPIs to 20mg within that time. I will say I attempted to get off PPIs before and have also tried cold turkey which definitely made it worst as the book stated and I can attest to.
With the help of whole foods I found everything aside from raw milk, however there is a farm that has raw milk nearby I just haven't gone yet. I have tried about 6 different eating styles to attempt to help my stomach and this is the only thing that works. My chiropractor actually said my body overall was reacting well to the change and was able to be adjusted easily. Overall I am happy with how things are going so far.
Recommended Craig’s book to several others already—even if they didn’t have heartburn or reflux issues. What I particularly liked was finding realistic underscoring of what my body has been telling me all my life. Fats important. Fruits and veggies. Nutrition aspects that didn’t relate to me—fine. They will help other readers. Writing is clear, knowledgeable, and conversational. Easy to read and take in. A book worth having on your shelf, whether hard copy or digital.
I would have given it 5 stars but I knew most of the stuff since I went through getting off Nexium before and my Doc. prescribed Prilosec for 6 months. I have health reasons that it is necessary but I like to be off them as much as possible. I remembered getting off was difficult and couldn't recall exactly how I did it. So this book was a good reminder and there for me to see where I am as I get off it yet again.
I frequently have Acid Reflux and probably Gerd as well. This book piqued my interest. I am glad I read it. I learned a lot about the some of the surprising facts as to why people have Acid Reflux and what can be done to alleviate the problem without taking anti acid medicines such as PPIs . The no medication part is exactly what I would like for myself.
I’ve read 4 other book on this subject over the past month; this the best of the lot. I highly recommend this book as it lays out the subject in simple easy to understand language.
Some good tips in this book. Overall, it is good, but mostly recycled info other than the misconceptions about heartburn and acid reflux. I could see the diet presented being very hard to achieve due to the amount of money and time needed.
Loved that recipes were given. Learned a lot from this book. Also I really like that he gave a 2 week view with meals for the grain free weeks. I'm the type of person who really needs that kinda direction or I may fall off.
Well intentioned and easy to read. Sounds like a good idea to try it; but no scientific proof that it would work. The recipes at the end of the book are good and practical. Interesting analogy of the digestive process to a blender and makes sense.
Not exactly what I was looking for. Too much States-intended, with the suggested meals and such, not to mention that a 100% grain free diet is nonsense.
