Gone are the days when women left all money matters to the man of the family. Still, family finances continue to mystify many moms. Dollars & Sense is a practical, easy-to-understand guide that describes four money management styles that will help moms discuss and handle finances more effectively. Author Cynthia Sumner discusses a wide range of moms' financial concerns, from the big issues like how to save money, set goals, and teach kids responsible money habits to the knit-picky mechanics of managing bank accounts and establishing credit. No matter what their financial situation, moms everywhere will find these specific suggestions and practical tips invaluable as they learn how to regain or improve their family finances.
I didn't learn anything new in this book, having already read books about money management for the home. However, it was very easy to understand and I would absolutely recommend it to someone looking for something like this!
Lots of common sense advice that I learned in my finance and accounting classes. I figured that's probably what it'd be, but thought I'd check it out anyway. It'd be great for someone with no financial background, probably.
I thought this book was really great. It takes seemingly tough concepts and puts them into a simple easy format to help you take control of your finances, and what to do after you've started budgeting. I especially enjoyed the sections "save big, save small" and "kids money management".
