"If a cat lives to long, she can become a cat demon" - that's all Touya remembers when he wakes up and finds himself in a strange environment. He remembers his days as a stray black cat, and a kind black haired boy - but suddenly he himself has a human body, plus cat ears and a tail! And he's surrounded by two boys who look the same - and then there's Kiri, the strange man who took him in. It turns out Touya has woken up in the "Country of cats", a place in the demon/ghost world where lots of cat demons live. And Touya himself has become one, it seems. But in order to become a constant part of this world, he has to remember who he was before he woke up. In the time it takes to do just that, he slowly becomes part of a strange little family, consisting of the two boys, Natsuki and Akio, and of course Kiri..
I bought this because of the cat ears (of course!) and because someone said in a review that it had been a while since they read a story with such a gentle seme. And I get what she meant with that. Kiri really is gentle. In fact, the whole story felt very warm and soft and just ~lovely. Natsuki and Akio especially were incredibly cute, and Touya's backstory made me cry. If there is one minor complaint is that there were not quite enough moments between Touya and Kiri, and the middle part felt like it was a little too long. But I still enjoyed myself thoroughly while reading this - and ended up petting my cat even more than usual.
